Every world needs heroes. And an alternate reality in which society’s been
buried under a crushing financial crisis? Such a world needs heroes more than
most.
Some may remind us of ancient archetypes we still hold in awe. Others will be
utterly fresh and quirky. All, under the expert hands of our caring and
experienced writers, will be people (and a couple of animals) we’ll grow to care
about.
These are the Phenomenons—vigilantes who haunt the streets, the rooftops, and
even the skies, fighting the good fight against the world’s leeches and power
brokers—and risking their very human (and not-so-human) lives in the process.

Michael Jan Friedman has created a new universe of super-powered beings, with a
great roster of writers contributing stories to his world: Robert Greenberger,
Mary Fan, Russ Colchamiro, Hildy Silverman, Glenn Hauman, Aaron Rosenberg, Paul
Kupperberg, Heather E Hutsell, Keith DeCandido, Dan Hernandez, Marie Vibbert,
Ron Marz—and me!

Meet a slew of new, human heroes–Black Hat, the Grey Guardsman, Luminosity,
null, Professor Paracelsus, among others–and a few non-humans, too: my very own
Darya, a bio-engineered wolf and leader of the pack, and her crew, the feral
black cat Layal and Qudamah, a snarky lion tamarin whose opposable thumb comes
in pretty handy.
