See below for step-by-step instructions on how to enable this feature and check the settings on your device. ELIGIBILITY Advanced Security on the go is available to all xFi Complete customers and can be enabled for Android devices running Android 10 and up, and for iOS devices running iOS 14 and above. We recommend ensuring your device has the latest available operating system when using this feature. Check with your device manufacturer for directions on how to check the current operating system on your device and if there’s an update available. ENABLE ADVANCED SECURITY ON THE GO Before you can turn on Advanced Security on the go for your device, you’ll need to enable Advanced Security on your home WiFi network. ON ANDROID DEVICES 1. Open the Xfinity app. 2. Tap Connect. 3. Tap Advanced Security. 4. You’ll see a screen for “Advanced Security on the go.” Tap I Agree. 5. On the Location permissions pop-up, tap While using the app. 6. The Xfinity app always requires location permissions. From the next screen, tap Allow in settings. Note: For Advanced Security on the go to work on Android mobile devices, the Xfinity app requires location permissions set to “Allow all the time” so it can run in the background and detect network changes. If location permissions aren’t granted to the Xfinity app, Advanced Security on the go won’t work as designed. Your location won’t be collected, used or shared by Comcast. 7. Select Allow all the time for the Xfinity app. 8. You’ll be asked to set up a VPN connection. Tap OK. 9. Allow the installation of the Xfinity VPN profile. ON IOS DEVICES 1. Open the Xfinity app. 2. Tap Connect. 3. Tap Advanced Security. 4. You’ll see a screen for “Advanced Security on the go.” Tap I Agree. 5. You’ll be prompted for the Xfinity app to add VPN configurations. Tap Allow. 6. Allow the Xfinity VPN profile installation. CHECK VPN SETTINGS ON ANDROID 1. Open the Settings app on your phone. 2. Search for and scroll down to "VPN." 3. Locate "Xfinity." 4. Select the gear icon. 5. You can now see the settings for the Xfinity VPN. 6. Close the Settings app. ON IOS 1. Open the Settings app on your phone. 2. Scroll down and tap General. 3. Scroll down and tap VPN. 4. Verify the “Xfinity VPN” profile is installed. Note: Advanced Security on the go was designed to turn on automatically when network settings are detected. The VPN toggle will remain as “Connected” and the Xfinity VPN will only establish a secure network tunnel when the device is connected to an unsecured WiFi network. CHECK LOCATION PERMISSIONS ON ANDROID On Android mobile devices, the Xfinity app requires location permissions set to “Allow all the time” to run in the background and detect networks changes. If location permissions aren’t granted to the Xfinity app, Advanced Security on the go won’t work as designed. 1. Open the Settings app on your phone. 2. Search for "Location." 3. Scroll down to "App access to location." 4. Scroll down to "Xfinity." 5. Select Allow all the time. 6. Tap the back arrow at the top. 7. Close the Settings app. DISABLE ADVANCED SECURITY ON THE GO To disable Advanced Security on the go, see the following instructions: 1. Open the Xfinity app. 2. Tap Connect. 3. Tap Advanced Security. 4. Tap the gear icon on the top right. 5. Locate "Advanced Security on the go." 6. Tap the toggle to disable Advanced Security on the go. DELETE THE XFINITY VPN Follow the directions below to remove the Xfinity VPN profile from your mobile device. This also disables Advanced Security on the go. 1. Delete the Xfinity app from your device. 2. Search for "Xfinity" in the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. 3. Install the Xfinity app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
