for any female leader and the sooner you read her book, the better off you’ll
be.In this easy to read book, you’ll learn Shellye’s story of facing repeated
adversity from a very young age to a defining moment where she doesn’t want to
have to choose between tolerating cold temperature in her home to having to save
up for college. This moment lights a fire under Shellye to stop at nothing in
order to achieve success. No strong person has an easy past, and Shellye’s story
confirms this because she takes no shortcuts throughout her journey. Every
success she achieves is through sheer hard work and meticulous planning. She did
her homework at every step of the way.A few of my favorite parts include:· Her
strategic examination and mapping of IBM leadership routes to her devising a
plan based on what she learned.· Her bold questioning of a high profile Venture
Capitalist before confirming her new role.· Her keen insight to presenting a
slide deck in a particular way to better connect with her international audience
(found in chapter 27 – my favorite).· Her smart decision to go external to find

Shellye Archambeau’s new book titled, Unapologetically Ambitious is a must read
for any female leader and the sooner you read her book, the better off you’ll
be.
In this easy to read book, you’ll learn Shellye’s story of facing repeated
adversity from a very young age to a defining moment where she doesn’t want to
have to choose between tolerating cold temperature in her home to having to save
up for college. This moment lights a fire under Shellye to stop at nothing in
order to achieve success. No strong person has an easy past, and Shellye’s story
confirms this because she takes no shortcuts throughout her journey. Every

Shellye Archambeau has written a “how-to” that’s both delightful to read and
incredibly useful. Her personal story is unique but the practical tools she
develops for a successful life are of universal value. As early as high school,
she began setting a direction and working her plan. In fact, strategic planning
and making necessary choices are hallmarks of her lifelong ambition to create
the life she wants – on her terms, and with no apologies. In one of my favorite
chapters Shellye describes the moment she knew that Scotty (her future husband)
was the right man for her. She knew she first had to find out not only whether
Scotty wanted kids but whether he would be willing to be the “stay-at-home”
parent when the kids were growing up. At 19 years old, she knew what she wanted
in a life-partner and was ready to take the risk to ask this very big question
before he proposed. Facing daunting odds in her career, she has moved from
milestone to milestone with a strong set of values and unflappable grace. One of
her core values is the desire to lift others and share the mindset and
strategies that have worked for her. It’s what she calls “having an impact.” I
was a career coach myself after a long legal career and I know that the tips and
approaches she shares in this book are priceless.

This book is a must read for anyone with big ambitions, whether you're fully
confident in them or a little intimidated by the loftiness. Shellye's wisdom
provides so many ways for you to take action and look at your goals from new
angles, and she truly inspired me with her personal stories of growth. Reading
this gave me more tools to pursue what I want in life and the confidence to
believe my goals are achievable. She is both warm and firm in this book, and she
offers lessons that are applicable to so many different parts of your life.
Also, love to see a Black woman accomplishing her dreams and sharing that with
the world!

Reading this book felt like sitting with a mentor and having her answer key
questions I’ve had regarding my journey in corporate. She also answered
questions I did not think I needed answered. I knew I could dream but after
reading this book I realized that I’ve been cautious in how I dreamt about the
future. I realize that subconsciously I believed that my background and context
had power to limit me. I love the approach of an integrated life rather than
work life balance. She has freed me to desire more in my corporate life,
relationships and family. Thank you mam. Gosh I should have read this book when
I was 21. But I believe the time is right!!!! This book is practical. And there
is something about learning from someone who has walked the path!!!

Shellye Archambeau's book should be on the must-read list for any young woman at
the beginning of her career. her story is an inspiration, and the book is also
fun to read given how she weaves her very personal stories into the learnings
and advice--It is such a fun and engaging book to read that one barely realizes
how much one is also learning :) . Her level of thoughtful consideration and
planning, from her career to her choice of husband to even her choice of what
coat to buy (my favorite story!) is thought-provoking for anyone to contemplate.

It's a great book that I highly recommend reading it. Through the description of
author's career plan, which actually becomes her life plan, you gain ideas on
how to form your development plan. Also, at the end of the book there are
certain points to help you form your plan, not a template, but questions that
drive you to design your own plan, even it is about your dream job, your dream
partner, or whatever. You will find out that all we have to do to achieve our
goals is to make our own plan and stick to it.
