common? The physics behind their twisted shapes can be explained using a
theoretical framework developed over nearly two decades by Physics Professor
Arshad Kudrolli’s research team.

Hamed Alemohammad, director of Clark’s Center for Geospatial Analytics, and six

Many people categorize themselves as left-brained or right-brained. For Gary
Goldberger ’96, the magic only happens when the creative and analytical parts of
his brain are working in unison.
Goldberger, who majored in physics and fine arts with a focus on sculpture,
carved out his career path by merging his understanding of the physical world
through science with his ability to connect with others through art.
Today, he is the president and co-founder of FableVision Studios, a Boston-based
educational media company that creates experiences — everything from books to
animations, mobile games to AR and VR — to teach and inspire.

It was a beautiful afternoon to celebrate #FreshCheckDay in Atwood Plaza!
Founded by the Jordan Porco Foundation, this event brings the campus community
together to “check in” on the mental health and wellness of college students.
Today’s festivities included games, prizes, food, music, and educational booths
— all centered around well-being.
Thanks to the Office of Wellness Education and the Center for Counseling and
Personal Growth for organizing this event, and to all who attended!

For evolutionary biologist Erin McCullough, the mating rituals of dung beetles
are not only fascinating, but also can provide a window into understanding how
climate change might affect biodiversity.
Climate change has led to species expansion, but McCullough says there’s still a
lot to learn about why some species are expanding and others aren’t — and the
role sexual selection plays in that process.
“A lot of biology is about sex and death,” she says. “That’s really what
matters.”
McCullough and her two students — Syd Kochensparger ’25 and Bea Altopp ’25 — are
currently studying several species of dung beetles collected in the
@clarkhadwenarboretum to understand if and how they court and fight.
