At Dell Technologies we define the Edge as wherever the physical world and the digital world intersect, where data is generated, collected, and processed to create new value. Emerging trends will disrupt entire industries and as we democratize Technology and advances in silicon enable higher performance and lower power draw from smaller form-factors, more functionalities that were traditionally tied to wire or a central location is now decentralized and wireless and driven by Data. This requires collaboration, consistency in service and standards, collection, normalization visualization and analysis of Data and all in a chaotic ecosystem that is natively disaggregated and disconnected. Connectivity and integration are the steppingstones to powering new services through new apps at the edge and driving these functions through the collection of intelligence in near real time. The direction of cloud is Native, and its destination is Edge – We are now preparing for Edge Native capabilities, to take something new and modern and connect it to something archaic and proprietary. During this session, Marc will talk to Modern Analytics, Functions of Artificial Intelligence and the Management, flow and analysis of Data as it moves through the ecosystem and the architecture and the infrastructure and application layers appropriate to Modern Analytics and information extraction SÉAMUS CLANCY CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER - REPAK "IS IT BUSINESS AS USUAL OR DO WE ALL AS BUSINESS LEADERS HAVE TO RECALIBRATE OUR THINKING ON WHAT A SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS WILL LOOK LIKE IN THE FUTURE." PAUL WALSH GENERAL MANAGER - EMEA "BMS ALARM FATIGUE - THE RISKS, AND REWARDS THAT CAN BE DELIVERED WITH DATA" Speaker Bio Synopsis Leading CIM’s European expansion, Paul joined CIM with a passion for combating climate change and how disruptive technology has the ability to remove barriers to delivering demand-side energy savings for large property owners in a very short time frame. With 20 years of industry experience in delivering energy savings, Paul is a Certified Energy Manager with a Bachelor of Technology (Hons) in Manufacturing Technology & an MBA from the University of Limerick. “Without accurate, reliable & relevant information from a vast dataset, you cannot make intelligent decisions about energy consumption, benchmarking & sustainability in manufacturing facilities around HVAC & Utilities.” - Conor Murray, President, ASHREA Ireland A recent survey conducted by CIM found 34% of high tech facilities managers to confirm that HVAC is their sites biggest energy cost. It was also reported that FM teams are overwhelmed with data and BMS alarms, - on average a BMS delivers 12.5 alarms every day, with 50% of sites reporting as many as 30 and 27% of respondents admitting to ignoring all BMS alarms. This alarm fatigue leads to inaction, and in CIM’s experience, this leads to critical optimisation opportunities being missed. Overall, alarms are generally not regarded as an aid to better control of a HVAC system or as a means for an organisation to mitigate its energy costs or reduce its CO2 emissions. Rather, alarms are being regarded as a nuisance that can be ignored, ultimately demonstrating that there is insufficient value being delivered by the BMS or the data.
