A BRIEF HISTORY

The Brunswick Four made history on January 5, 1974, when Adrienne Rosen, Pat
Murphy, Sue Wells, and Lamar Van Dyke gathered at Toronto's Brunswick House for
an evening of camaraderie. What began as a night of fun turned into a pivotal
moment in LGBTQ2S+ rights activism. Fifty years ago, by performing their own
spin on Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “I Like Being a Girl,” the trio of Pat, Lamar,
and Adrienne took to the stage to perform their rendition of "I Enjoy Being a
Dyke," a fearless anthem reclaiming their identity and challenging societal
norms.

Their defiant act sparked outrage from management, leading to their expulsion
and subsequent confrontation with police. Despite facing discrimination and
injustice, the Brunswick Four's resilience ignited a national conversation about
LGBTQ2S+ rights and galvanized Toronto's LGBTQ2S+ community in the fight for
equality.

Today, their legacy serves as a beacon of courage and inspiration, reminding us
of the power of collective action in the pursuit of justice and acceptance.

THE VISIBILITY ANNIVERSARIES TOUR

Join us in reflecting on the profound question: What does visibility mean to
you? This year's theme commemorates three extraordinary milestones: the birth of
the Trans flag, the courageous stand of the Brunswick Four, and the pivotal
Depathologization of Homosexuality. As we embark on our visibility journey,
we're privileged to welcome remarkable advocates to our cause. Together, let's
embrace a day of empowerment, authenticity, and the transformative power of
unity.

INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PINK

On April 10th, 2024, let's celebrate visibility in all its forms – from being
seen and acknowledged to being respected and heard. It's about standing tall and
embracing the beauty of our true selves. Together, let's unite against
injustices, amplifying our voices for those who need them most. Wear pink,
utilize these campaign resources, and spread the message of visibility far and
wide. Join us as we honor the past, celebrate the present, and pave the way for
a more inclusive future.
