The increase applies from the first full pay period starting on or after 1 July 2023. We’re working to update to our pay tools, website information and resources with the new pay rates. These will be ready for you to access from 1 July 2023. These will include: · changes to agreement making · increased access to multiemployer bargaining through single-interest bargaining, supported bargaining and cooperative bargaining · changes to extending unpaid parental leave, including giving the Fair Work Commission the power to deal with disputes · more employees being able to access flexible working arrangements. An unpaid trial may be unlawful if: · it’s not needed to demonstrate the skills required for the job, or has continued for longer than is actually needed (this depends on the nature and complexity of the work) · it’s more than just a demonstration of the person’s skills, where it’s directly relevant to a vacant position, or · the person isn’t under direct supervision. The length of Jessica’s trial and the requirements asked of her suggest there’s an employment relationship, meaning she should be paid the appropriate minimum rate of pay for all the hours she worked. Jack doesn’t need to be paid for his brief trial as it was reasonable to demonstrate his skills.
