I’ve worked in the healthcare IT field for over a decade helping healthcare organizations turn their data into valuable insights. I started this blog to share my esteemed and authoritative thoughts on whatever shiny thing(s) interest me at the moment! EDUCATION I attended high school at St John’s Preparatory School in Danvers, Massachusetts & Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Business. At Southern New Hampshire University I earned my Master of Science degree in Information Technology. I focused as much of my undergrad curriculum as possible on Information Systems and Operations Management. While at Merrimack, I co-founded the rugby club and joined the Phi Kappa Theta fraternity, serving as chapter Vice President and President of the inter-fraternal council. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE Most of my career has been in service-driven roles. For more than a decade I worked in a variety of retail positions including Market Basket & GameStop. I also spent a few years chauffeuring, which was admittedly the most entertaining job that I never want to have again. I interned seasonally for several years at a local energy provider in a help desk role, supporting end users and driving a few projects. They weren’t as significant as they felt at the time, but they were huge confidence boosters (ha). After college, I took a customer support role at an electronic health record (EHR) company called MEDITECH working with their data warehouse product. During my time in that role, I gained a ton of experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and saw how healthcare organizations transform data into actionable information. I trained many new team members, completed a variety of projects, and even had the opportunity to showcase the product’s power to our customer base at events in England and across the U.S. I’ve spent the past several years managing one of those same teams. One of the biggest challenges in that time was, well, learning to manage and finding the right situational balance between technical SME and manager. The company recently pivoted into a few new strategic areas, and I’m taking advantage of this to upskill both my team and myself. PERSONAL INTERESTS I’m easy to please: * Cooking (I suppose eating too) * Games * Drawing Or any combination of them, especially if it’s with my kids.
