The District has a number of great reading opportunities and resources to
encourage students to keep reading during summer break!

Games for Good

Students from the Gifted and Talented programs at Lewis & Clark, Kennedy, HMR,
CBH, Washington, and Longfellow hosted the third annual Gifted and Talented
Games for Good cardboard arcade at Washington's Family Fun Night on Tuesday.
Through ticket sales to play the cardboard arcade games designed and built by
students, the event raised $420 to donate to Feed the Children.

Family Fun Night

Lewis & Clark Elementary School hosted a Family Fun Night for its students,
staff, and families on May 20. Guests enjoyed a dinner of taco in a bag and
participated in activities including a scavenger hunt, raffle drawing, necklace
crafting, and a bounce house.

Living Wax Museum

Lewis & Clark students explored the “Habits of a Scholar” as they researched the
lives of famous individuals who demonstrated these traits and brought them to
life at the Living Wax Museum. Students investigated characteristic behaviors
common in scholars. Watch Video

 

Anderson Honored

Congratulations to Gifted & Talented Teacher Stacy Anderson on being named the
YWCA Woman of the Year in Education! Anderson was one of 13 women to receive
Woman of the Year recognition in a variety of categories at the 51st annual
Woman of the Year Event.

Self-Directed Academy

The Self-Directed Academy (SDA) puts each student in the driver's seat of their
own education. With an instructional model built on self-paced learning,
flexible scheduling, technology integration, STEM, and project-based learning,
students determine their own educational path with guidance from educators. SDA
is best-suited for independent learners who benefit from in-person contact.
Registration is now open for students in grades 6-8 in fall 2024!

Summer Food Program

North Dakota is launching Summer EBT, a new grocery benefits program that
provides $120 for each eligible school-aged child to buy groceries while school
is out. Most families will get these benefits automatically, but some may need
to apply. The new program is in addition to free summer meal sites in their
communities. Households already participating in SNAP, FDPIR, or TANF, will be
automatically enrolled in the Summer EBT program. Households not automatically
enrolled may be eligible, Apply now!

Best Communities for Music Education!

FPS has been honored with the Best Communities for Music Education designation
from the NAMM Foundation for its outstanding commitment to music education. FPS
joins 975 districts across the country in receiving the prestigious award in

Each year, FPS administration conducts an Administrative Policy review.
Administrative Policies are reviewed on a set rotation, ensuring all policies
are reviewed once in a four-year cycle. Through this review process, some
policies do not require any changes while other policies receive minor updates
or more substantial updates. For the 2024 review cycle, administration has been

requirements, effective for the 2024-25 school year with the state's mandate of
