WHERE TO GO?

Kravica Waterfall is a large tufa cascade on the Trebižat River, in the karstic
heartland of Herzegovina in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is 9 kilometres south of
Hercegovina Rent Apartment. It will take 13 minutes to get there by car.  


KRAVICA WATERFALL

The entrance fee to Kravica Nature Park is 20 KM (about 10 EUR). This fee covers
access to Kravica Nature Park for the entire day.


ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM HUMAC

The oldest museum in the country, established in 1884, is at the Humac
Franciscan Monastery (built in 1869) just outside the town of Ljubuški. A
20-minute walk from Hercegovina Rent (2,2 kilometers).


FORTRESS OF HERCEG STJEPAN

Above Ljubuški, on top of the Butorovica hill, there is a “sleeping” old town
with a beautiful view of the valley of the Trebižat River. According to
folktales, Duke Stjepan Vukšić Kosača is responsible for building the fortress,
although historically it is older than him. In written sources, the name of the
city is mentioned for the first time in 1435 under the name “Lubussa”.

GRADSKA GALERIJA (THE CITY GALLERY) DISTANCE FROM HERCEGOVINA RENT: 2 MIN WALK

The City Gallery of Ljubuški is located in a historic building with a beautiful
Austro-Hungarian style façade. It was built before the First World War, and
renovated recently. There are works by local artists, as well as paintings by
the most famous painter from Ljubuški, Hamo Ibrulj. As a painter, Hamo organized
over 100 exhibitions on almost all continents.

The City market is a place where you can find different types of seasonal
fruits, vegetables, medicinal herbs, clothes, shoes, and tools… Considering the
relatively good offer of fruits, vegetables, and other foodstuffs, attendance at
the City market is not what it used to be, but some regular customers do not
give up their purchases at this very place. This market was once regarded as a
quintessential public space, providing not only access to fresh produce but also
functioning as an important social infrastructure, but lately, the market is
barely surviving.




VOJNI LOGOR NA GRAČINAMA (THE OLD GRACINE MILITARY CAMP) DISTANCE FROM
HERCEGOVINA RENT: 27 MIN WALK (2,2 KILOMETERS)

The old Gracine military camp, known as Bigeste, is located in the Humac area, 2
km southwest of Ljubuski. The military camp dates from the 1st to 3rd centuries
and was partially researched and restored between 1977 and 1988. Remains of a
Roman military complex have been excavated at the site. During the excavation,
numerous remains of ceramics, jugs, vases, coins, jewelry, rings, glass, tools
and weapons were found. A small part of the exhibits is in the museum of the
Franciscan monastery of St. Ante. As the only partially explored military
complex in Bosnia and Herzegovina, this archaeological site was declared a
national monument in 2003. New archaeological research began in April 2017 in
collaboration with the Faculty of Humanities.




(ARHEOLOŠKI MUZEJ NA HUMCU) THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM ON HUMAC DISTANCE FROM
HERCEGOVINA RENT: 22 MIN WALK (1,8 KILOMETERS)

Inside the Franciscan Monastery of St. Anthony of Padua on Humac the oldest
museum in Bosnia and Herzegovina is located, founded in 1884. Although the
Archaeological Museum on Humac has the legacy of the earliest institution of
this type in the country, unfortunately, during its rich history, the Museum was
closed several times due to war, economic and other problems. The museum
presents objects collected in the wider area of Herzegovina, chronologically
belonging to the period from the Upper Paleolithic to the late Middle Ages, in a
period of almost 16,000 years. The largest collection of finds consists of
objects from the nearby Roman military camp in Gračine, which was investigated
in the period from 1977 to 1980. year. "Humac plate" (Humačka ploča) is the
Museum's most popular exhibit, it is dated from the period from 10th to 12th
century, and represents the oldest written track of the Croatian language in
today's Bosnia and Herzegovina.


WORKING HOURS

The museum is open to visitors every day from 1 October to 31 March working
hours from 10 to 17h, or from 1 April to 30 September with a slightly longer
working time from 10 to 19h. The museum presents objects collected in the wider
area of Herzegovina, chronologically belonging to the period from the Upper
Paleolithic to the late Middle Ages, in a period of almost 16,000 years. The
largest collection of finds consists of objects from the nearby Roman military
camp in Gračine, which was investigated in the period from 1977 to 1980. year.
"Humac plate" (Humačka ploča) is the Museum's most popular exhibit, it is dated

You can buy them as an individual ticket for the Museum on Humac at the price of
2 BAM (for the period from 1.1. - 15. 6. / 15. 9. - 31. 12.) or 4 BAM during the
summer season (for the period from 15. 6. - 15. 9.), or in the locality of the
waterfall Kravica in a joined ticket package




BAŠČINE SWIMMING SPOT DISTANCE FROM HERCEGOVINA RENT: 31MIN WALK (2,5
KILOMETERS)

One of the best swimming spots of the Trebizat river and a natural swimming
pool! This is a popular gathering place for locals in the summer months, and in
the catering facility on the Trebižat River, many people play cards during the
summer, socialize and enjoy the view of the beautiful nature and the water that
flows over the travertine barriers. Even in the winter months, many people
decide to walk to this bathing area to walk along the water and enjoy the cool
greenery.

STARI GRAD LJUBUŠKI (OLD TOWN OF LJUBUŠKI – FORTRESS OF HERCEG STJEPAN) DISTANCE
FROM HERCEGOVINA RENT: 8 MIN DRIVE (3.2 KILOMETERS)

On the hill above the town of Ljubuški there is a beautiful tower that watches
over the town. The medieval fortress of Herceg Stjepan, or the Old Town of
Ljubuški, was built on a solid, rocky position, at an altitude of 396 meters
above sea level. The complex occupies an area of some 500 m2. In the Old Town,
there is a system of ramparts surrounding the main tower. The ramparts sometimes
reach a height of up to 10 meters. Since 2003, the Old Town of Ljubuški has been
declared a national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and thanks to
conservation works, it has been largely restored. Tourists can enjoy observing
the old walls, but can also climb to the viewpoint from where there is an
excellent view of the city of Ljubuški.






ČEVELJUŠA – A SMALL WATERFALL AND BATHING RESORT LOCATED ON THE TREBIŽAT RIVER
DISTANCE FROM HERCEGOVINA RENT: 7 MIN DRIVE (3.8 KILOMETERS)

The roar of the water, which overpowers even the most turbulent thoughts, simply
leaves no other option but to relax and enjoy the natural beauty that this place
abounds. Waterfall is about 15 meters high, and in this place, local residents
gather in the summer months to swim and relax. In the immediate vicinity of the
bathing area, there are restaurants that offer quality and tasty local food, and
during the summer the restaurants are always full. It is worth visiting this
natural beauty because, with the murmur of the water falling from the waterfall,
and the warm summer breeze, you can enjoy swimming and eating unhindered.





BILILO - DISTANCE FROM HERCEGOVINA RENT: 7 MIN DRIVE (4.3 KILOMETERS)

The Bililo is located on the Trebižat river in Ljubuški and is truly a small
paradise on earth. It is located in the heart of untouched nature, which you can
enjoy to the fullest, and when you get tired of swimming in the summer, there is
also the Bililo restaurant. The swimming pool is a popular gathering place for
locals who like to come here in the summer months to enjoy the rich gastronomic
offer, but also to play the traditional game of bocce ball.





TEGAŠEVAC - DISTANCE FROM HERCEGOVINA RENT: 7 MIN DRIVE (4.3 KILOMETERS)

Given that the Trebižat River flows through Ljubuški, the inhabitants of
Ljubuški spend the summer months at the river banks, and one of the most popular
is the Tegaševac natural bathing area in the village of Lisice. It is a place
for socializing and swimming, and in the summer months, catering facilities next
to the swimming pool come to life, so locals come there to refresh themselves
with beer, play chess or cards. Even in the winter months, it is popular to walk
along the Trebižat river along the Bajer embankment, which is located next to
the swimming pool.





BOŽJAK - DISTANCE FROM HERCEGOVINA RENT: 13 MIN DRIVE (10.6 KILOMETERS)

In summer months, when the temperature rises over 30° C, a nice refreshing break
can be found along the natural bathing areas by the Trebižat river. One of the
most visited ones is most definitely the natural bathing area in the village of
Studencima called Božjak. In pristine nature, in the shade of the trees, with
clear pools, unspoiled river beaches, and swimming and jumping into refreshing
water, the Trebižat river invites you to visit it.
