Who is Mrs. March?

The idea of the wife of an author who thinks she is the main character in his
latest novel was intriguing. I almost stopped reading this about 3 times, but
kept going hoping the mysteries would be explained. This was just sad, rambling
thoughts of a mentally ill person. It was never clear what was real versus
imagined. Questions never answered, why did upstairs neighbor ask her son to
unexpectedly spend the night with her son; what did her son do at school that
got him suspended; was the main character based on her?
I wish I had the hours back that I wasted on this book.

This novel kept drawing me in to the character and thoughts of Mrs. March! She
is so complex, but is she delusional? I hope Elizabeth Moss does make the
picture and star as Mrs. March! The visual images will be as intriguing in a
movie as they are in the book. I hated for the book to end! I wanted to see the
looks on the party guests’ faces when they arrived at the end and began to
party!

I must admit I was smitten with the writing; biting, visceral and, at times
brilliant. But… I lost faith, early on, and finished because… I had to read what
kind of collateral damage could be wrecked by this ridiculous, untethered human
being. SPOILER ALERT: Once Mrs. March went to Maine, I lost all credibility in
the story line. And the ending… was clear from the beginning this woman was
falling into the depth of darkness and there was only one way out. Just the
narcissistic belief that her husband was writing his novel about her… a
whore…got off to a… hm… unbalanced and rocky start for me. Some of the repartee
does remind me of the inclusive, vacuous dialogues I’ve partaken in… but The
City felt fresh and warm and familiar in this author’s imaginative grip.
