WHATSAPP INTEGRATED NOVI DIGITAL WALLET AS PART OF PILOT TESTING

As part of the pilot testing, WhatsApp will allow sending cryptocurrency
payments in the messenger to a “limited circle” of users in the United States.
The Novi digital wallet, which also belongs to the Meta corporation, was
integrated with the application.



> “There is a new way to try Novi digital wallet. Starting today, a limited
> number of US users will be able to send and receive money using Novi via
> WhatsApp. Sending money to family and friends is now as easy as sending
> messages, ”wrote Stefan Kasriel, the future head of Meta’s payments division.

According to site Novi, the integration assumes commission-free transactions in
Pax Dollar (USDP) stablecoins within the messenger. The company has not set
limits on the frequency of payments or their volume. There are no fees for
withdrawing funds to a bank card.

In August 2021, the current head of Novi’s division, David Marcus, announced the
readiness of the digital wallet to launch. Later it became known that the
Bitcoin exchange Coinbase will act as a custodian partner in the pilot testing.

In October, a group of US senators urged Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to
immediately end the Novi pilot and commit to not bringing Diem stablecoin to
market.

As a reminder, in early December, Markus announced that he would leave the
company by the end of the year. His place will be taken by Kasriel, who
previously led Upwork.
