I'm hoping to finish more media this year than last year. Plans this year are to go through my backlog a lot more, plus putting more effort into finishing new books/games I buy. #YearInReview2024 1 0 0 Replied to Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper PublicJul 18 * Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper @pyre Beat FF14 Dawntrail. Really enjoyable. Only real gripes are that it follows the FF14 expansion formula that has been pretty set in-stone now, but with that being said I still had a blast. Excited to move onto patch content when that comes out. ALT #YearInReview2024 0 0 0 Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
Watched Spy X Family: Code White on Thursday. The movie was adorable, replete with entertaining action and great comedic moments. I'm looking forward to this releasing on blu-ray so I can pick it up and watch it again.

#YearInReview2024
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
I read Empire of Sand by Tasha Suri late last month. The book was a wonderful read with delightful characters and an interesting magic system. I enjoyed a fantasy book that was based on Indian mythology compared to Japanese or Anglo-Saxon myths I normally see. I'm definitely going to read the sequel soon, although I lost my Kindle today. 😢

#YearInReview2024
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
Watched Encanto. It's really good! I don't know why I hesitated on this, I highly recommend it. The song "Surface Pressure" hits a bit close to home, and even before I ever watched it, I had periods of time where I listened to the song multiple times a day.

#YearInReview2024
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
Media thread for 2024! I loved it, the final episode almost made me cry to be honest. Excited for when the next season comes out as well as the movie.

#YearInReview
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
Scott Pilgrim Takes Off is absolutely fantastic but also impossible to recommend to someone unless they're into at least the movie or graphic novel. The entire time I was watching it, I kept thinking about how I love it but can never recommend it to someone casually. I hope they do more with it but also it's wonderful as-is.

#YearInReview
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
Also watched Belle and had a good time. It's a cute little Beauty and the Beast story. The music was nice although the pacing felt a little off in the songs, but I think that was due to me watching it dubbed instead of the original Japanese.

#YearInReview
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
A few days old but I watched Klaus and it was an incredible Christmas film. I went in expecting it to be kind of mid, but it was really heartfelt with wonderful animation.

#YearInReview
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
For Halloween last night I watched the 1959 Dracula film. Really fun, really cheesy, made me want to watch more Hammer Horror films. I love charming old movies like this.

#YearInReview
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
Finished Spider-Man 2 just now. What a fantastic game, easily my game of the year right now. My only issues are that the game has a lot more bugs than previous entries, and they removed some of my favorite suits from Spider-Man 1.

Looking forward to Wolverine when it comes out (hopefully with more polish!) and the inevitable Spider-Man 3.

#YearInReview
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
The Super Mario Bros Movie over. Really fun, not exactly how I would’ve adapted it but I enjoyed it a fair bit. Big fan of the remixes of traditional songs.

#YearInReview
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
Just watched TMNT Mutant Mayhem. Absolute banger. Fantastic animation, perfect soundtrack, and the most accurate portrayal of teens in a movie I’ve seen. I hope this gets a sequel like it teases.

#YearInReview
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
Watched Spirited Away for the first time. It's really good, and I can see why everyone loves it. My favorite Ghibli movie is still Kiki's Delivery Service, but I would never shoo this away if it were on.

#YearInReview
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
I know it's DLC but it's substantial enough to go on this list. Finished Resident Evil 4: Separate Ways. Pretty fun, I like the remixed areas with the grapple gun. Ada's voice actress did a better job here than in the base game (at least I think so) but I do hope that she gets better direction if she's going to continue.

#YearInReview
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
Yoshi enjoying lettuce.
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
It's 2023 and I'm back in on Team Fortress 2. Sure didn't expect that.
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
Never posted this here, I still can't believe this happened.

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/dR8bo4IV0Wc
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
Watched Superman: The Movie finally. I can see why this movie is loved all these years later but man it's goofy at times, and went on a little longer than I'd like. Excited to get to Superman II though.

#YearInReview
Matthew “Pyretech” Cooper
Meant to update this sooner, I finished This Is How You Lose The Time War by Amal El-Mohtar and Max Gladstone. It is a very good book that I initially wrote off but continued to read due to a friend's recommendation. If you like abstract science fiction novels, I recommend reading this.

#YearInReview
Load more Mastodon ExploreLive feeds -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mastodon is the best way to keep up with what's happening.
