I am delighted to submit my candidacy for the Nominet member-elected director
role. With over 25 years of experience in the internet infrastructure and domain
management sectors, I bring a wealth of knowledge and a passion for driving
forward the mission of Nominet. My career has been dedicated to enhancing
internet services and governance, and I am eager to contribute my expertise to
Nominet’s board.

Extensive Industry Experience

As a co-founder and director of 2020Media, I have led our team in providing
reliable web services, including website hosting, domain names, email and
connectivity. Our commitment to customer-centric service has positioned us as a
reliable provider in the UK market. My role involves not only strategic
oversight but also daily interactions with customers, ensuring that our
solutions meet their unique needs.

My technical background is robust, with skills in broadcast, telecommunications,
and systems administration. I have been involved in various aspects of internet
governance, attending ICANN meetings, internet governance forums, and
contributing as an elected member and recently chair of the .UK Registry
Advisory Council (UKRAC) since August 2021. This role has given me insight into
the regulatory and operational challenges facing our industry and has allowed me
to advocate for policies that benefit both Nominet members and the broader
internet community.

Commitment to Change and Public Benefit

I was an active supporter of Simon Blackler’s Public Benefit campaign, which led
to significant reforms at Nominet in 2021. As one of the initial Nominet members
who triggered the Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), my company, 2020Media,
played a crucial role in bringing about greater transparency, accountability,
and a stronger focus on public interest within Nominet. This experience has
reinforced my belief in the importance of member-driven governance and the need
for further improvement within Nominet.

Vision for the Future

My vision for Nominet is to build on the progress we have made and to further
align operations with the principles of core registry functions and public
benefit. I strongly feel that Nominet should improve it’s services to Members
and Registrars and these should be the key benchmark by which success is judged.
I believe that Nominet should continue it’s work on social impact, ensuring that
the internet remains a force for good. This includes supporting initiatives that
promote digital inclusion, cybersecurity, and innovation.

In Conclusion

I am committed to serving the interests of Nominet members and ensuring that our
organization remains at the forefront of internet governance and service
provision. My extensive experience, proven track record of advocacy for positive
change, and dedication to the public benefit make me a strong candidate for the
Nominet board. I am excited about the opportunity to work with fellow members to
drive Nominet’s mission forward.
