FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQ's

Are there any technical limitations for the free tier model for SAP BTP?

Each free tier service has a capacity limit on usage. For example, SAP Business
Application Studio is limited to two developers; SAP BTP, Kyma Runtime is
limited to four CPUs; SAP Mobile Services is limited to three users each on 10
applications. Once you reach the free tier capacity limit, you will be notified,
and you can update to a standard plan in your SAP BTP Cockpit to continue using
the service.

Will the user be charged once a free tier limit is reached?

No. Once you reach the limit of a free tier service plan, you will be notified.
At that time, you can choose to update from a free tier to a paid service
plan. Only after you update to a paid service plan will you be charged for
additional usage.

Does the free tier expire?

Access to free tier services does not expire as long as you have an active
Pay-As-You-Go or CPEA account with SAP. Once a free tier service limit has been
reached you have the option to update from a free to a paid service plan in the
same account.

Now that free tier is available, what will happen to my SAP BTP trial account?

Your SAP BTP trial account remains active until further notice. The SAP BTP
trial continues to allow users to build full applications in a test environment
to learn and explore the capabilities of SAP BTP. However, once a user is ready
to move to the next phase of their journey and create production applications,
the customer will need to move to one of SAP’s commercial models
for SAP BTP: Pay-As-You-Go, CPEA or Subscription. Work done in the Trial will
not be migrated to the new, paid model.

Why do I need to use a credit card if the free tier is meant to be free of
charge?

By signing up for a CPEA or Pay-As-You-Go for SAP BTP (PAYG) agreement, you gain
full access to your own SAP BTP instance. Credit card information is required to
verify your account, which includes the free tier capabilities for a subset
of SAP BTP services. Providing your credit card also allows you to move work
done in free tier to production via the PAYG and CPEA terms and conditions, as
well as to activate paid services immediately as desired.

From which countries can users sign up for the BTP free tier model via credit
card today?

The following countries are available today for individual account signup via
credit card. More countries will be added on an ongoing basis for individual
users.   Users from countries not on this list can still signup today for a BTP
free tier business account via their company’s existing relationship with SAP.

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France,
Germany, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain,
Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, United States

How do I transition from Pay-As-You-Go for SAP BTP to CPEA?

After signing the CPEA agreement, you can transition smoothly while retaining
your global account. If you have an existing CPEA account, your account for
Pay-As-You-Go for SAP BTP will transition to a separate account. Contact your
local account executive for more information.

What is CPEA?

The objective of the Cloud Platform Enterprise Agreement (CPEA) is to
create one rich and simple customer experience for finding, trying, buying, and
consuming cloud services from SAP and partners for net-new and installed base
customers. It allows customers to integrate, extend and innovate applications
with business and technical functionality offered as cloud services in a
flexible way. Learn more FAQ Consumption-based commercial model CPEA & Cloud

Can I use my existing SAP UserID to order Pay-As-You-Go for SAP BTP on the SAP
Store?

Yes, however, most existing P- and S-User IDs have been set up
as company-related users. So if you are planning to sign up for your SAP
BTP instance as an individual, without company details, please register as a
new user and use a non-company email address when ordering Pay-As-You-Go for
SAP BTP (e.g., john.doe@gmail.com).
