Since the release of CATAN (at that time still The Settlers of CATAN) in 1995,
the game has developed into a modern classic that is available worldwide in over
40 languages. To date, over 35 million games have been sold.

With numerous extensions and additions, everyone can create their own personal

CATAN was awarded three independent awards in the year of its release in
Germany. 1st place: "Deutscher Spiele Preis", "Essener Feder" award for the best
rules and the German Game of the Year award.

The Settlers of Catan
The first English-language edition "The Settlers of CATAN" appears. A year later
the game was released in the USA and won the "Origins Award" that same year.

First Expansion CATAN – Seafarers
Revolution for the board game: "Seafarers" is the first expansion that was made
into a board game and sold over 1 million times.

CATAN - The Card Game
The card game sold more than 1.4 million copies in Germany and was awarded the
German Game Prize: 2nd place and made it onto the shortlist for the game of the
year. The further developed successor is now called "Rivals for CATAN"

Since the first big game in Chemnitz, Germany, the event has cast a spell over
hundreds of people around the world. In 2017, the Big Game set a new record with

The best CATAN players in the world have been competing in a championship since
2002. At that time participants from 27 nations competed, in 2018 participants
from 46 nations met for the competition for the title "Best CATAN player in the
world!"

In 2020 CATAN celebrated its 25th birthday. To date, the game has been
