Nowhere in the world is there a model where housing providers share the equity they generate with their disabled tenants. Instead, disability support and social housing providers have grown wealth on the backs of the disabled people they should serve. EQUITY HOUSE WILL DISRUPT THAT STATUS QUO, AND PROVIDE A VEHICLE FOR AUTISTIC PEOPLE TO SHARE IN THE WEALTH GENERATED. THIS IS HOW WE CHANGE THE WORLD, WE BUILD IT. The problem TO BECOME THE PERSON WE HAVE THE POTENTIAL TO BE, WE HAVE TO HAVE OUR MOST FUNDAMENTAL NEEDS MET. TO BE SAFE, DRY, WARM. TO HAVE SHELTER. And then: we can think, explore, create, grow. Self-actualise. Determine our own future. For too many autistic people, this is not the case. Autistic people need access to homes that are safe, dry, secure and meet their sensory needs. We need to create housing that is accessible and affordable, without compromising access to the crucial supports that many autistic people require. We need to make sure that autistic people have control and choice over their housing providers, without the fear that advocating for their needs might compromise their right to occupy their home. And fundamentally, we need to break the poverty cycle that so often ensnares autistic tenants, who are trapped paying rent to providers without the opportunity to generate wealth. How do we solve this? The solution WE HAVE A SOLUTION. BUT WE NEED YOUR HELP. Your charitable efforts will open the path for reduced reliance on debt for funding. This creates a surplus we will invest in an equity pool, which the autistic residents will have access to. They can then realise their own property investment goals, or enhance their lives as they wish. This is what equity looks like.
