ABOUT NATIONAL CRICKET ACADEMY (NCA)

he government of India trains all the candidates who are taking part in these
state-level matches. The selection for these state-level teams will be made
based on the performance of the candidates, either in clubs or other league
matches. To safeguard the interests of all the states, the government has laid
down a fixed number of candidates to be selected from each state into the
national team, based on the population of that particular state.

It has to be noted that the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore has been one
of the most important places from which several legendary players emerged into
the Indian Cricket team. Players like Rahul Dravid, Anil Kumble, and KL Rahul
came from National Cricket Academy Bangalore. The Current Head of the National
Cricket Academy in Bangalore is none other than Rahul Dravid. Players like
Chahal, Kuldeep Yadav, Sanju Samson are all from the coaching background with
Rahul Dravid.

NATIONAL CRICKET ACADEMY BANGALORE SELECTION PROCESS

There is a famous seven-step selection process that every candidate must go
through to get a chance to be a part of the National Cricket Academy.

 Let us now look at these first steps for every candidate before seven steps in
detail.

 * The first step for every candidate must be completed before the completion of
   schooling itself. The candidate must be part of his school team in
   inter-school competitions. 
 * The second step is to be a part of the district-level camps in an eligible
   age category.
 * Every candidate has to play a considerable time of district cricket where
   matches would be held between various state districts.
 * If the candidate’s performance is satisfactory and has potential, he would be
   shortlisted for the state-level team.
 * The candidate has to play state cricket again until he is spotted by some
   selectors looking at the pure skill of the player.
 * Every candidate has to participate in state-level camps, consisting of
   playing matches across the country on different pitches.
 * If you are on the top 15 list, you will get a call from National Cricket
   Academy

NATIONAL CRICKET ACADEMY SCHOLARSHIP

The national cricket academy gives scholarships to three best performing players
of the academy to visit Australia’s Centre of Excellence in Brisbane. The
scholarship is called Border-Gavaskar Scholarship, and this is named after the
legendary Australian player Allan Border and Indian Captain Sunil Gavaskar. They
scored more than 10,000 runs in Test Cricket.

HISTORY OF NCA

The National Cricket Academy is located in Chinnaswamy Stadium Bengaluru.
Cricket administrator and former BCCI President Raj Singh Dungarpur was the
pioneer of NCA. He was the Chairman of the same.

On the other side, Vasu Paranjape along with Roger Binny worked as a Director in
2000. NCA has produced many talents for India. In 2014, BCCI made a tie-up with
Cricket Australia and the England Cricket Board to get experts for helping draw
the new model.
