Bull joined Lonsec which is in the process of being acquired by Generation Development Group. His exit follows a series of departures by several senior people, including head of manager research ratings Annika Bradley, who left earlier this year. It is understood that Bradley's replacement will be named shortly. Tim Wong and Justin Walsh jumped ship to Genium to join Tim Murphy a few months back. And, it looks as though manager research director Michael Malseed is moving across to the investment management side of the firm. At Morningstar, Nikolai covers the ratings of managed funds, exchange-traded funds and listed investment companies and trusts. He also worked with the local and international manager research teams across 14 global offices. Bull has over five years of experience in financial services. He previously worked as a research analyst for Centrepoint Alliance and at the National Australia Bank for over two years before that. Meantime, Morningstar has started building its team by hiring two new analysts - Liem Nguyen and Ibrahim Guled-Warfield. The former was a graduate analyst at BNP Paribas, the latter joined from Platinum Investment Management. In another move, Sam Humphrey has started a new job as an investment analyst at Ellerston Capital. He switched to Ashok Jacob's alternatives fund from Rothschild & Co, where he spent two years in global advisory covering utilities, transport, and infrastructure. Humphrey also did a short stint at BDO Australia, the audit, tax and advisory services provider, arriving from FIIG Securities, where he worked as a dealer assistant in Perth. A former Lanyon Asset Management investment analyst also moved to Ellerston this month as the firm bulks up its equity and fixed-income teams. The high-profile Nick Markiewicz has been appointed co-portfolio manager of Ellerston's Global Mid Small Cap Fund. One month earlier, Vimal Gor signed up with Ellerston Capital as head of fixed-income and multi-asset.
