From the shop floor to the union hall, our members need more than just
representation—Local 1549 members need to be empowered and in charge of our
union!

The Members In Charge (MIC) Slate are the activists in Local 1549 who promise to
organize our union so that rank & file members like you decide the direction of
our union and are the ones who will carry out a democratic mandate. In short, we

MIC SLATE PLATFORM: WHAT WE STAND FOR

A UNION FOR EVERYBODY

Our union should be open for every member to participate in—not an exclusive
club for insiders. We'll make sure everyone knows how to get involved, stay
informed, and that all of our union spaces are welcome to all members.

BARGAINING HIGHER RAISES & PERMANENT WORK FROM HOME

We'll bring on rank & file members into our bargaining strategy and push the
issues that matter the most: higher raises and making the work from home pilot
into a permanent program.

STRONGER SHOP STEWARDS

Shop stewards need to be confident and empowered to champion our members on the
shop floor. We need a network of shop stewards who can share knowledge and get
the resources they need to effectively defend our members.

TRANSPARENCY & ACCOUNTABILITY

Financial transparency and democratic accountability starts with opening the
books for members and bringing in members to participate in important decisions.
Members should have access to minutes & be able to vote on key union matters.

USING PEOPLE POWER TO FIX TIER 6, HOUSING & CHILDCARE

We can use our political action committee, PEOPLE, and the people power of rank
& file members to fight to fix Tier 6 pensions, build truly affordable housing,
and make childcare accessible for all.

MORE ACCESSIBLE MEETINGS

It's 2024 and there's no excuse not to have a Zoom option for our union
meetings. Even if they can't directly participate in-person, every member should
have the ability to listen into union meetings to get the important information
they need.
