BARBARA GEORGE FOR SCHOOL BOARD

Barbara George is a resident of Newport Beach, a City Arts Commissioner, wife
and mother of five who is active in her community and church.




Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Barbara’s family came to the mainland when she was
three months old, where they lived in the South Bronx and Harlem areas of New
York City and Newark, New Jersey in working-class neighborhoods. Barbara
volunteered as a youth praise and worship leader at her church in Elizabeth, New
Jersey for five years, prepping and leading the youth band for church services. 




Despite growing up in a tough neighborhood, Barbara didn’t let her circumstances
dictate her future and that through hard work and perseverance, she could attain
her goals of acquiring a good education and lead a productive and successful
life.
