Quality management has been creating value for organisations for many decades.
However, digital transformation is significantly challenging its traditional
principles, practices and tools.

As quality leader, the CQI’s aim is to prepare professionals working in quality
management to:

 * Understand the growing importance and impact of digital developments on the
   profession
 * Respond positively and effectively to this change

Our first step has been to commission a programme of research, with the support
of our Research Advisory Panel. This research provides more context on Quality
4.0 and will produce examples of how the profession can exploit it.


WHAT IS QUALITY 4.0?

PHASE ONE RESEARCH

We have now developed a working definition of Quality 4.0, which comprises eight
core principles.

HOW TO APPROACH QUALITY 4.0

PHASE TWO RESEARCH

The next phase of the research, which is currently in progress, involves:

 * Developing case studies to illustrate Quality 4.0 practices and their value
   to business
 * Comparing the eight Quality 4.0 principles to the seven ISO quality
   principles
 * Identifying the knowledge, skills and behaviours that quality professionals
   need to effectively respond to Quality 4.0
