Cooperatives are well known worldwide to be one of the instruments used by
people to fight against poverty.

CBDF OVERVIEW

CBDF is a non-profit in Eswatini that provides support, resources, and training
to cooperatives. We are the first of our kind in Eswatini, and we are dedicated
to strengthening and advancing the cooperatives agenda.

Cooperatives have been around the country for over 60 years, yet they have not
been very effectively utilized in the rural community to make a difference

To have a socially and financially prosperous Eswatini Co-operative Sector built
on the practices of cooperation.

Our team has a wealth of experience and is eager to help put the the experience
into use to raise the bar in the cooperative space in Eswatini

CBDF MISSION

is to promote accelerated growth of the co-operative sector through capacity
building and market linkages initiatives. By doing so, we believe we can create
a more sustainable, equitable, and cooperative future for Eswatini. Our team is
made up of experienced professionals who are passionate about cooperatives and
committed to providing the best possible support to help them thrive.

COLLABOARATIONS

We work closely with the government to advocate for policies and regulations
that promote the growth of cooperative businesses. We believe that this
collaboration is essential in ensuring that cooperatives receive the necessary
funding, resources, and support to succeed. Our goal is to create an enabling

creation in Eswatini.

Nonhlanhla Mnisi is the visionary founder of the Cooperative Development
Foundation. With over three decades of experience in the field, Nonhlanhla has a
wealth of knowledge and expertise in all aspects of cooperative development.
Prior to founding the Cooperative Development Foundation, she served as the
commissioner of cooperatives in Eswatini, where she was instrumental in
promoting the growth of cooperatives and improving the lives of rural
communities.
Her dedication to promoting the principles of cooperation and mutual support
serves as an inspiration to others in the cooperatives industry.

Peggy Dlamini is an accomplished professional with over four decades of
experience in the Department of Cooperative Development specializing in media
communication in the cooperative space.
Her career has been marked by a steady climb up the ladder, starting from
grass-root level as an Assistant Cooperative Officer, responsible for
inspection, supervision, and development of cooperative societies in the
country.
Over the years, she has risen to the position of Senior Cooperative Officer,
where she represented the Commissioner and oversaw the Regional staff,
inventory, and cooperative societies within the Region.
She has also acted as the Assistant Commissioner for Cooperative Development,
where she was in charge of registering new societies in the country, in addition
to overseeing the development of cooperative societies and managing the Regional
staff.

Idah Gamedze is a highly skilled and experienced Cooperative Development
Specialist with over 40 years of experience in Accounting, Management,
Supervisory and Cooperative Law. Prior to joining the COOPBDF she worked as a
Regional Senior Cooperative Officer responsible for overseeing the development
and management of cooperative entities.
Her expertise in cooperative development has enabled her to conduct supervisory
visits to the cooperative entities and conduct training for emerging cooperative
groups to ensure they are adequately prepared for registration compliant to
Cooperative Act and Regulations.
Idah is committed to enforcing the implementation of the Cooperative Act and
Regulations, ensuring that all cooperative entities in the region are operating
legally and ethically.

38 years of experience working for the Department of Cooperatives as an
assistant commissioner responsible for cooperative accounts and audit.
She is also experienced in training cooperatives on basic accounting principles
to enable them to present financial statements for audits. Her expertise in
cooperative development makes her an invaluable asset to the cooperatives
industry, and she is committed to helping cooperatives grow and succeed.

Cooperatives Development Centre and she also served as an Assistant Commissioner

the importance of cooperatives in community development and has dedicated her
career to supporting and promoting their growth.

cooperatives, particularly women and young people in remote areas of Eswatini.
She is dedicated to empowering women and promoting economic independence and
financial freedom.
She has worked as an Intern in the Ministry of Commerce Industry and Trade under
the Cooperative Department, where she gained valuable experience in cooperative
development. She also worked as a Facilitator and Mentor for young women in a
Non-profit Organization HC3.
Melisa's experience in inspections of cooperatives has enabled her to ensure
compliance with regulations and taught cooperative members about cooperative
legislation, procedures, and requirements

Thoko Masuku is an experienced Cooperative Developer with 37 years of working
with Co-operatives. She is an expert in organizing groups to form Cooperatives
as well as providing training on various aspects of cooperatives including
consumer cooperatives. She has trained Cooperative Movement staff, Cooperative
Board Members, Cooperative General Membership, In and Out of school Youth, and
the Public at large.
Thoko has also worked as a lecturer at CODEC and has also acted as CODEC
Principal for over two years being in charge of the cooperative training
institution. Thoko has also worked as a part-time trainer at The Institute of
Development Management (IDM).
In addition to her skills in cooperative development, Thoko is also a skilled
individual who can oversee all accounting activities in an organization and
ensure tax compliance.

WHO CAN JOIN THE CBDF?
