EMILIO CALANDRA RIDING IN SYDNEY TO SURFERS ROBBO'S RIDE 2023

In support ofSydney to Surfers Robbo’s Ride 2023


Starting on 29 April, I'll be leaving Sydney to ride - yes, on a bicycle - to
Surfers Paradise. We'll be riding about 1,000 km over 7 days, averaging 140 km
each day and climbing a total of around 7,500 metres!




It's a daunting challenge for me but a comparatively small one compared to the
challenges faced by the young people who find their way into the care of Father
Chris Riley's Youth Off The Streets.




Youth of the Streets was established in 1991 when Father Chris Riley began
delivering meals to young homeless people on the streets of Kings Cross out of a
single food van. Since then, it has grown into a major youth-specific agency
working for young people who are disadvantaged, homeless, drug dependent or
recovering from abuse. They deliver the support these individuals need as they
work to turn their lives around and overcome significant disadvantage and often,
personal trauma or abuse.




The aim is for young people to leave the care of Youth of the Streets drug free,
with a high school education, living skills and a secure full or part-time job. 
Remarkable outcomes are achieved through a range of programs including crisis
support and accommodation, long-term rehabilitation, counselling and treatment,
accredited high schools, and early intervention and community engagement.
