reformers intent on combatting the evils of industrialization and the

Canada was taking its first steps, Quebec moved to prohibit women voting in

reforms and equality of opportunity in education than on the vote.

determined who was eligible to vote in federal elections. Prime Minister John A.
Macdonald changed that with the Electoral Franchise Act of , whose passage he
