Read our thank you message Accomplished! € 9.4M Open thank you message Dr. Christian Humborg & Franziska Heine Wikimedia Deutschland e.V. Jason Krüger, Franziska Heine & Christian Humborg, CC BY-SA 4.0 Thank you so much! Fortunately, we did it once again, despite the current crisis. Roughly 360.000 fantastic people have reacted to our appeal for donations over the past 57 days and showed how much they appreciate our project. We are particularly grateful considering the times we live in: We are all seriously affected by energy prices going through the roof, a double-digit inflation and the economy in free fall. Yet we were able to reach our fundraising target once again. We would like to wholeheartedly thank all of you! Like so many other people, we also find our world more unsettling than ever. Whether it is the Covid-19 pandemic, global economic problems or the strained global political situation – we are often overly challenged by the complexity of how events unfold. How fortunate that Wikipedia offers reliable, neutral and well-documented information – completely free of charge and without advertising, in a comfortingly rational and calm style. It is the solid rock in an environment of fake news, propaganda and targeted (dis)information guided by special interests. However, Wikipedia’s independence is increasingly under pressure, for example when states attempt to censor unwanted facts – as it is currently the case on the Russian-language Wikipedia in the context of Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine. But there are also ongoing attempts in our country to put legal pressure on volunteers who write for Wikipedia under their own name, or by attacking their chosen username. As a global community, we defend Wikipedia and its volunteers against such attacks with all the resources available to us. To achieve this, we depend on regular support, particular in these uncertain times of crisis. In Germany, around 102,000 people currently show their commitment to Wikipedia with a supporting membership and an average annual contribution of €55 – which are still not that many considering how popular Wikipedia is and how much it contributes to general knowledge. You can change that today: Please feel invited to join this group of extraordinary people as a new sustaining member – starting with just 2 euros per month. Help us to strengthen Wikipedia’s independence and to secure its long‑term existence. Become a sustaining member and support Wikipedia – especially now! * Membership fees are tax-deductible * A donation receipt is issued automatically * No risk: You can cancel your donation at any time without notice * At your request: Our exclusive Wikipedia tote bag Support with €2 per month Support with a different amount For more information, please visit our website Open thank you message WINDOWS SERVER 2019 From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Jump to navigation Jump to search Version of Windows Server family of operating system released in 2018 Windows Server 2019Version of the Windows NT operating system Screenshot of Windows Server 2019 with Desktop Experience DeveloperMicrosoftWritten in * C, C++, C#, Assembly language OS familyMicrosoft WindowsWorking stateCurrentSource modelClosed sourceGeneral availabilityOctober 2, 2018; 4 years ago (2018-10-02)[1]Latest release10.0.17763 / October 2, 2018; 4 years ago (2018-10-02)[2]Marketing targetBusinessAvailable inSame as Windows 10Update methodWindows UpdatePackage manager * Windows Installer * Windows Store Platformsx86-64Kernel typeHybrid (Windows NT kernel)UserlandWindows Subsystem for LinuxDefault user interfaceWindows shell (Graphical) Windows PowerShell (Command line)Preceded byWindows Server 2016Succeeded byWindows Server 2022 (2021)Official websitemicrosoft.com/windowsserverSupport status * Start date: November 30, 2018; 4 years ago (2018-11-30)[3] * Mainstream support: Until January 9, 2024; 12 months' time (2024-01-09) * Extended support: Until January 9, 2029; 6 years' time (2029-01-09) Part of a series of articles onWindows 10 * New features * Removed features * Version history * Criticism Other editions * Windows Server 2016 * Windows Server 2019 * Windows Server 2022 * Windows 10 Mobile Related * Windows Mixed Reality * Windows Insider * Microsoft Store * Universal Windows Platform * Fluent Design System * v * t * e Windows Server 2019 is the ninth version of the Windows Server operating system by Microsoft, as part of the Windows NT family of operating systems. It is the second version of the server operating system based on the Windows 10 platform, after Windows Server 2016. It was announced on March 20, 2018 for the first Windows Insider preview release, and was released internationally on October 2, 2018. It was succeeded by Windows Server 2022 on August 18, 2021.[4] CONTENTS * 1 Development and release * 2 Editions * 3 Features * 3.1 Web browser * 4 See also * 5 References DEVELOPMENT AND RELEASE[EDIT] Windows Server 2019 was announced on March 20, 2018, and the first Windows Insider preview version was released on the same day.[5] It was released for general availability on October 2 of the same year.[1] On October 6, 2018, distribution of Windows 10 version 1809 (build 17763[6]) was paused while Microsoft investigated an issue with user data being deleted during an in-place upgrade.[7] It affected systems where a user profile folder (e.g. Documents, Music or Pictures) had been moved to another location, but data was left in the original location.[8] As Windows Server 2019 is based on the Windows version 1809 codebase, it too was removed from distribution at the time,[9] but was re-released on November 13, 2018.[10] The software product life cycle for Server 2019 was reset in accordance with the new release date.[9] EDITIONS[EDIT] Windows Server 2019 consists of the following editions:[11] * Windows Server 2019 Essentials - intended for companies up to and including 25 employees, memory-limited. * Windows Server 2019 Standard - intended for companies with more than 25 employees or more than 1 server to separate server roles. * Windows Server 2019 Datacenter - is mainly used for placing multiple virtual machines on a physical host. FEATURES[EDIT] Windows Server 2019 has the following new features:[12][13][14] * Container services: * Support for Kubernetes (stable; v1.14) * Support for Tigera Calico for Windows * Linux containers on Windows * Storage: * Storage Spaces Direct * Storage Migration Service * Storage Replica * System Insights * Security: * Shielded Virtual Machines * Improved Windows Defender Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) * Administration: * Windows Admin Center * SetupDiag * OpenSSH included[15] WEB BROWSER[EDIT] Microsoft Edge did not support Server 2019 at release. Microsoft considers Internet Explorer 11 a "compatibility layer," not a browser. Edge added support in January 2020, but Server 2019 does not install it by default. Microsoft encourages server and enterprise users to install Edge.[16] SEE ALSO[EDIT] * Microsoft Servers * Comparison of Microsoft Windows versions * Microsoft Windows version history * Comparison of operating systems * List of operating systems REFERENCES[EDIT] 1. ^ Jump up to: a b "Windows Server 2019 – now generally available!".
