It provides an update to previous NWC/GEO v2021 to allow the processing of GOES18 satellites. In addition, it includes the following improvements with respect to preceding v2021: - Support to GOES-18 satellite - Satellite Data Ingestor for Himawari data in EUMETCast HRIT format has been updated to new radiometric resolution of IR4 band, provided in 14 bits - Correction of an erroneous field initialization that could cause spurious data voids in extrapolated SAFNWC products (usually only beyond the nominal maximum leadtime of +1 hour) - Default configuration of GEO-CRRPh activates the lightning correction - Improvement of the cell detection algorithm and code optimization to reduce the processing time in GEO-RDT-CW Please, see the release note for more details about the improvements in the NWC/GEO v2021.1 with respect to NWC/GEO v2021 2022/09/29 New deadline for Civil engineer or post-doctoral position offer at Météo France Be aware that the deadline to apply for the position Civil engineer or post-doctoral position offer at Météo France has been extended to 1st November 2022. Category : Civil engineer or post-doctoral position. Duration: 24 months – possible extension to 2x12 months Title : "Evolution of Convection Nowcasting products based on satellite data in a MTG context" The deadline for application is 1st November 2022. See the annoucement on http://www.umr-cnrm.fr/IMG/pdf/2023_cdd_nwcsaf-pi_vf_dl20221101.pdf WELCOME TO THE NWC SAF The key objective of the NWC SAF is to provide to National Meteorological Services, Scientific Institutions and in general meteorological users from EUMETSAT member states and worldwide, with an advanced, robust and reliable system to support both operational and research activities in Nowcasting and Very Short Range Forecasting, by means of: * The production and provision of two software packages (NWC/GEO for geostationary and NWC/PPS for polar satellites) for the near real time generation of a set of meteorological products to support Nowcasting activities, and * The provision of support services to final users to allow the maximum exploitation and benefit of the software application and the transfer of knowledge from the NWC SAF consortium to its users. The NWC SAF is being developed by a consortium of National Meteorological Services composed by: NWC/PPS V2021 SOFTWARE OUTPUT PRODUCTS The software package NWC/PPS v2021 has been developed by NWC SAF for the near real time generation of a set of meteorological products to support Nowcasting activities. Here you can find the output product images as a reference to what users can obtain with the NWC SAF PPS v2021: ** The NWC SAF doesn’t provide the products directly, the NWC SAF provides the software and the support to run the software to obtain all nowcasting products.
