PAGES * Home * About Me * Where To Find Me * Press * Let's Get Affiliated! FRIDAY, JUNE 21, 2024 WHAT'S FLYIN'? OH, JUST A FLY ON THE WALL Oh, hi there! Yes, yes, I'm still around. I just don't blog, like...ever. Because I don't have the time, and because I'm lazy. Yea, I said it. Last time we met, it was November and let me just tell you, a lot has happened! So let's just dive in, shall we? *In November, Matthew, Caleb, Sebastian and I made the trip up north to Caleb's Endocrinologist appointment. It was at this appointment that a boy was cleared to take the steps to becoming a man. Yes, you heard that right...er...um...well, READ that right. Caleb was approved to start testosterone! I give him a shot every other month. His voice has already started to deepen and he is getting a little mustache action. He's grown about half an inch or so as well. *In December, Matthew, Caleb and I made the trip down south, to the next town over, which also serves as our county seat. While there, we visited the courthouse for a hearing regarding a name change for a minor. Yup! Caleb is now, legally and officially, Caleb! Here is the first picture of him OFFICIALLY Caleb. *We had Christmas, which is always fun. We had Anastasia, Sidney and Olly over, opened presents and just had a ton of fun. The kids got a TON of gifts and we were able to give Anastasia, Sidney and Olly some pretty awesome gifts too. I'm really a blessed woman, because I have such a fantastic family! *In February, I was subbing at a local middle school for 3 days. On the second day, during class, one of the students asked me about my family. I told them I had three kids, their ages, stuff like that...you know, the basics. They asked to see pictures, so I showed them pictures. All pretty harmless. Or so I thought. Evidently, one of the students went to the principal after class and told them I was having an "inappropriate" conversation after they all completed their assignments. I was called during the last period and asked if this was true, which obviously I said it wasn't. I left for the day and, before I could get home, I was removed as sub for the next day and the future jobs I had were cancelled. No explanation, nothing. Then I received an email from the superintendent, asking me to come in and meet with her. During that meeting, it was revealed that, because I mentioned that Anastasia had a wife, I was out of a job. Also, because I let the kids play on their cellphones, creating an "unsafe learning environment". That sucked. But THEN, I applied for a teaching position with a virtual school. I interviewed and was so sure that I didn't get it. We were on our way to Ohio for Caleb's possible last appointment at CCMC when I got a call from the principal, offering me the job! I had to pull off because I was sobbing tears of happiness. In April, I started teaching. I was co-teaching middle school English, because we only had a month and a half of class left. This year, I will be teaching 6th grade English. I'll have my own "classroom" and all that. The best part? I don't have to leave my house OR wear real pants! Because I landed the teaching job, I got some cool gifts from Matthew... I love them! I also got this EPICALLY AWESOME shirt! Yes, that IS Taylor Swift's head on Travis Kelce's body. Isn't it the most beautiful thing ever?! Here is a picture of Sebastian at work.... And Anastasia, who wants to teach Elementary school, and I at a teacher convention. Here's Caleb and I are Cumberland Falls. Oh, we got two new members of the family. Meet Gigi and Hazel! I got a new tattoo! So, I have a ladybug on my left arm that says "Cailin" under it. I got it 10 years ago, before Caleb came out. I asked him if it bothered him and if he wanted me to cover it up, because it has his former name. He said no, because he loves the tattoo and "he wouldn't be the boy he is today if he wasn't the girl he was." Pretty insightful if you ask me. So on my right arm, I got a Corgi, which is Caleb's favorite dog, with his name under it. Here's a picture of me being a rebel... Matthew, Caleb and I went to a Pride event here in our small town. That was so cool, because if you know anything about this town, you know that they are not forward thinking at all. But it was so amazing to be among people who just loved others for who they were. There is an actual Pride event taking place this weekend that we are going to try to go to. I'm excited for it! Happy Pride, everyone!!! Also, I think my face looks super skinny here and I'm here for it! lol Finally, today, my amazing husband graduated! So, Matthew walked in his high school graduation in 1995. But he was short a couple of credits and was supposed to go to summer school to get them. He didn't. Until recently, it hasn't really been an issue. He's landed great jobs by just saying he has a high school diploma. Well, little ol' me inspired that husband of mine! He said the he was inspired by how much I love my job and how excited I am every day. He wanted a piece of that action. So, he decided to get his GED and enroll in college. This man, who has been out of school almost 30 years, made the decision to get his GED and 2 weeks later, he had it! He didn't even have to take classes! Like, what a smarty pants!!! I would have had to go back to Kindergarten just to pass math! Today was the GED graduation and, during the ceremony, we learned that he'd won a scholarship he applied for. I'm so incredibly proud of that husband of mine and I can't wait to see him kick much ass at college! He's going to be a hot history teacher! Look at my incredible, amazing family!! God I love these bunch of crazy people!! I'm excited for summer to come to an end so I can get back to teaching! In case I don't do another post, here's what we have in store for us the rest of the year: * Caleb is starting high school * Matthew is starting his first year of college * Sebastian will be starting his second year of college * Anastasia will be starting her second semester of college * I will be finishing up my Masters degree My life is crazy. It has a bunch of ups and down, lefts and rights and some zigzags in there for good measure. But honestly? I freaking love it! Welcome to a Fly on the Wall group post. Today 4 bloggers are inviting you to catch a glimpse of what you’d see if you were a fly on the wall in our homes. Come on in and buzz around my house. See what's a buzzin' with my friends while you're here! I'd like to say it's because I've been busy, but the truth is, I just lost interest in blogging. So the point of this challenge is to post about things that wouldn't typically be full-blog worthy. Naturally, everything I'm going to post would be full-blog worthy, but hey...I'm lazy and this is a short cut. lol So let's just jump right in, shall we? ~ I went to my first professional football game in January. We saw the Cincinnati Bengals take on the Baltimore Ravens. This is the game where Sam Hubbard recovered the fumble at the 1 yard line and returned it 99 yards for a touchdown (thank you to my husband for telling me how to explain that...lol). I went for my husband, because the man lives and breathes football. But I had a great time...even if I froze my ass off. ~ In November of 2022, I was wrongfully fired from PNC. They said I was dishonest about something, they couldn't prove I was dishonest and the state of Kentucky agreed with me. ANYWAY, I started looking for a new job, but wasn't having much luck. In February or so of 2023, I applied for a secretary position at the local middle school. It turned out being a financial secretary position, which I am not qualified for. But they were so impressed by me that they recommended me for another job at a different school. The job was as an instructional assistant. I got that job and FELL IN LOVE with working at a school, teaching, and helping kids. So, in May, I started grad school to get my MA in Middle School/Secondary Education Teaching. When I graduate, I will be certified to teach grades 5-12 English. ~ In May, Sebastian and Anastasia graduated high school! I might have mentioned that, when we moved to Northern Kentucky last year, Anastasia stayed behind. So she didn't go to the same school that Sebastian did. She continued home schooling and ultimately got her GED. I was so proud of her!! Because I worked for the school district that Sebastian graduated from, I got give him his diploma. That was such a sweet moment that I will cherish forever. ~ Caleb got to his first drag show. He had SO MUCH FUN! ~ I started on Mounjaro last year. I've lost about 60 pounds since I started. ~ Matthew and I went to a Reds game and almost got hit with a ball. We found ourselves on TV...we are where the arrows are. lol ~ I got to meet Jason Smith!! If you don't know who he is, he won the Holiday Baking Championship back in 2016. He's from here in Kentucky and is just amazing! Lord Honey!! ~ We took the boys to see a WWE show. They had a blast. ~ We went to Cincinnati Pride for the parade. We didn't stay too long because it was hot, but we had so much fun. I got to hang with my friend Tiffany, plus we got to spend time together as a family, which we love doing. ~ Matthew, Anastasia, and I went to see Motionless in White, In This Moment, Fit For A King, and From Ashes to New. It was my second time seeing both Motionless in White and In This Moment. It was a ton of fun, as usual. I love going to concerts! ~ Sebastian and Anastasia turned 19. Anastasia and Sidney came up and we went out to celebrate. That night, Matthew and I took Anastasia to her first drag show at a gay bar. I've never seen that girl so in her element. Here is a picture of me at 19. ~ Matthew and I went to The World Famous Chicken Festival, which is the big fair that our town hosts. Matthew got a Hello Kitty tattoo and I got my septum pierced at the flash sale Merritt Tattoo was hosting. ~ I got to make out with Col. Sanders at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Corbin, KY. It happens to be the FIRST KFC. ~ So, in August, we had to move back to Southeastern Kentucky from Northern Kentucky, where we were. It wasn't a move we WANTED to make, but we are finding that it was needed. We are spending a lot of time with Anastasia and Sidney, I am reconnecting with my sisters, we visit my Dad often. We have dreams, goals we want to reach. Unfortunately, that meant I had to leave the job I loved. That made me really sad, because I really, really loved that job. Being that I am able to teach under Kentucky's Option 6, I started applying for teaching jobs. I was offered a job subbing and I absolutely LOVE IT! Here is a picture of me in a classroom, because why not. lol ~ Caleb is back to homeschooling, temporarily. We have FINALLY filed the paperwork to change his name to Caleb Parker. Once we do that, he will go back to public school. This month, he will be going to see his endocrinologist to see if he can finally start testosterone. He is 14 and should be able to now. He is really excited about that. ~ Sebastian is enrolled in college. He is at a community college to get his Associate of Science, and then he will transfer to a university to get his Master in Astronomy and Physics, as well as one in Teaching. Anastasia is starting college in January at a community college to get her Associate of Arts degree. Then she will transfer to a university to get her Bachelors in English and a Masters in Teaching. I guess we are just going to have a family full of teachers! ~ Oh...and Anastasia got married. Yes, you read that right...ANASTASIA GOT MARRIED! On October 13, she and Sidney got married in a very small ceremony at the park they went to on their first date. They have been together for 2 years, living together in their own apartment for 6 months. They have a dog together, a life together and I could NOT be more proud of them both. We adore Sidney and have welcomed her in our family since day 1. L to R: Sidney, Olly (their best friend and the officiant), and Anastasia. Olly, who officiated the wedding, has become one of our kiddos as well. We adore him! And here is a picture of me with the kids and my Dad. Okay, that's all I can think of for now. Buzz off and see what my friends have going on in their lives!
