SAPVIA is dedicated to promoting and advancing the solar PV industry in South
Africa.

In line with this objective, we are excited to invite you to participate in the
EWSETA learnership program by hosting one or more learners who have just
completed the Solar PV Installation Course for practical experience in Gauteng
and the Western Cape.
SAPVIA is managing this project, training 20 learners to install Solar PV system
as part of capacity building.

These learners are required to gain practical experience in a real-world setting
before undergoing their assessments in January 2024 and are eager to learn.

Program Details:
Learners: EWSETA fund recipients of the Solar PV Installation Course
Placement Period: 04 December 2023 to 24 January 2024
Objective: Provide learners with hands-on practical experience in a professional
installation environment

Why Participate?
Contribute to Skills Development: Support the growth of skilled professionals in
the renewable energy sector.
Enhance your Team: Provide your team with an opportunity to mentor and guide the
next generation of installers.
Industry Recognition: Showcase your commitment to the industry and community.

How to Participate:
Confirm your interest by 30 November 2023
Specify the number of learners your company can host.
Provide preferred dates for learner placement in December.

Next Steps:
Once we receive your confirmation, we will coordinate with you to match learners
with your company. This partnership will not only benefit the learners but will
also contribute to the overall success of the renewable energy sector.

We appreciate your consideration of this opportunity and look forward to your
positive response.

Should you require further information or wish to participate, please reach out
to zimkita@sapvia.co.za; pamela@sapvia.co.za; and lineo@sapvia.co.za.

We look forward to hearing from you soon.

De Wet Taljaard

I had the opportunity to represent the South African Photovoltaic Industry
Association (SAPVIA) in Taiwan last week attending the 2023 Taiwan Africa
Business Forum event. The Africa Taiwan Economic Forum organised the week-long
exchange.

The exchange was filled with industry engagements, one-on-one meetings with
local manufacturing entities seeking entry to the South African PV market, and
local factory tours. A visit to the world-famous Hsinchu Science Park, the home
of TSMC, was a highlight of the week's activities.

I delivered a presentation at the 2023 Taiwan-Africa CEO forum discussing the
South African Energy landscape and opportunities for investment in South African
Renewable energy, specifically the solar PV industry. The CEO forum was
organised by TAITRA Global (Taiwan External Trade Development Council)

I must thank the ATEF staff for a well-organised and fruitful exchange and the
Liaison Office of South Africa in Taipei (LOSA) for receiving the South African
delegation.

Today, SAPVIA attended the Transmission Development Plan (TDP) Implementation
Forum hosted by Eskom to give an update on the TDP and to apprise stakeholders
of key developments to facilitate the connection of new generation capacity for
the country. The implementation forum was hosted in the place of the TDP Public
Forum, where Eskom shares its future plans in accordance with the organisation’s
transmission licence as issued by the National Energy Regulator of South Africa
(Nersa). This year, Eskom has been exempted by Nersa from publishing the TDP,
pending the finalisation of the new Integrated Resource Plan (IRP), which forms
a critical basis for the requisite transmission network studies.
SAPVIA will share insights from the forum along with slides in due course.

2023 SA Renewable Energy Grid Survey Results

The annual South African Renewable Energy Grid Survey is a collaboration between
Eskom Holdings SOC Ltd, the South African Photovoltaic Industry Association
(SAPVIA) and the South African Wind Energy Association (SAWEA). The 2023 results
were released yesterday during a webinar attended by over 270 South African
renewable energy stakeholders. See some of the key takeaways and highlights from
the survey results below:

· 209 projects submitted, an increase from 158 in 2022.
· Total installed capacity of over 93GW and a contracted capacity of 66GW was
submitted.
· Solar PV generation technology accounted for over 32GW of the total generation
capacity.
· Solar PV and BESS are the preferred generation and storage combination,
accounting for 39% of submitted projects.
· The North-West and The Northern Free State are the dominant areas for Solar PV
project development with 13.8GW of generation capacity submitted.
· 5.7GW of Solar PV and BESS colocated projects submitted in the Northern Cape
to counteract grid capacity constraints.

A big thank you to Ronald Marais, Zayd Vawda the SAPVIA Grid Access Working
Group chair and the team at SAWEA, Santosh Sookgrim and Declan Morkel for the
support in the collaboration.

The results presentation can be downloaded from the SAPVIA website. SAPVIA
members have exclusive access to the webinar recording and a Solar PV-only
