Paul Gray and Dolly Wylie came in third, Sherwood Jones and crew, fourth; Bob and Mil- dred Stanley fifth. Paul and Dolly also thrilled the spectators with an exhibition of water skiing over a course thick¬ ly studded with boats, buoys and kelp. The larger boats of the Malibu Yacht Club were also active with Michel gerriere’s “Rascasse” be¬ ing used as committee boat, Jack Morton’s yawl “Gale” as race¬ course patrol boat. The newspaper covers the region of Malibu, and includes sections on the community, Malibu life, news, sports, opinion, obituaries, and entertainment. The paper was founded in 1946 by Reeves Templeman, an accomplished journalist and editor. Arnold and Karen York bought the newspaper in 1987. In the early 1990s, the couple started another newspaper called Canyon and Country Times, which covered neighboring Santa Monica foothill communities; however, this publication only lasted a few years.
