LATEST NEWS ARENA, DAGGERFALL, BATTLESPIRE, AND REDGUARD NOW ON STEAM — APRIL 26, 2022 As part of their ongoing move to sunset the Bethesda Launcher, Bethesda has brought many of their older titles to Steam. For The Elder Scrolls series, this includes Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire, and Redguard. This follows yesterday's release of the Creation Kit for Skyrim Special Edition on Steam. The version of Arena featured on the Steam store is the floppy disk version of the game, and the Steam version of Daggerfall is unpatched. Many community-compiled installers have been made for Arena and Daggerfall over the years that seek to offer a better installation experience. These installers are available on our Arena Files page and Daggerfall Files page. We also have an installation guide for Daggerfall Unity, a fan-made Daggerfall recreation. It's also worth noting that Steam's version of Battlespire does not include that game's multiplayer mode, and the version of Redguard offered does not include HD Glide rendering. For these features, you will need to buy these games from GOG, where they have been available for purchase since 2015. ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE: HIGH ISLE PREVIEW EVENT — APRIL 14, 2022 A preview was held for the upcoming High Isle Chapter of The Elder Scrolls Online. Major focus was given to the setting, society, companions, and factions that will be featured in High Isle, with more emphasis given to politics machinations over reality-destroying threats. The new in-game collectible card game Tales of Tributes also received a large degree of focus. The Chapter will have locales split between luscious beaches, sunflower-filled fields, and dense jungle. These locations will serve as a backdrop to the class stratification of Breton society. This divide has begun to boil over into open conflict with the Ascendant Order attempting to overthrow the nobility. The nobles have their own internal strife with House Dufort and House Mornard. Although economically reliant on each other, Mornard maintains a lingering resentment of Dufort for taking over control of the duchy from them in the recent past. Another faction that was mentioned was the Society of the Steadfast, funded by the generous Lord Vacaro, who is dedicated to using his wealth to improve other's lives. More focus was put towards making both of the new companions you can acquire appealing, after a clear preference for one companion over the other was observed with Blackwood. High Isle will introduce Ember, a Khajiit Sorcerer and "certified disaster" of a person. Your other option will be the "brave, forthright, and just a little dorky" Breton Templar Isobel Veloise. Tales of Tributes is a deck-building strategy game that was originated from High Isle, but has spread to the rest of Tamriel. The game has three resources, Gold, Power, and Prestige. Gold is used to buy cards from a central card pool called the Tavern during a match. Power is converted to Prestige at the end of your turn, and acquiring forty Prestige before your opponent and remaining ahead for a turn is a win condition for the game. The game can also be won by gaining the favor of all four Patrons at once, which requires you to perform various tasks. The full livestream can be seen here. A new trailer that was released with the preview can also be seen here. The official summary can be viewed here. We were given a chance to preview High Isle ourselves, and our own articles about it can be viewed here and here. SUPPORT THE UESP ON PATREON! A MONTH OF EVENTS FOR ESO'S EIGHTH ANNIVERSARY — APRIL 1, 2022 Elder Scrolls Online has kicked off its annual Jester's Festival on March 31. This year the event offers a brand new quest, as well as the usual assortment of new and returning collectibles. Later this month, ESO will be celebrating the eighth anniversary of the game's release with its annual Anniversary Jubilee event, featuring a new cake collectible for this year. Both of these events feature a 100% experience boost for the duration. In addition to the above, the daily login rewards for the month of April are jam-packed this year. In compensation for outages on the PC-NA server, the first daily reward this month offers five 150% experience scrolls, with more scrolls on offer throughout the month. Other rewards include a White Lion mount on day 10, and a new houseguest named Jester Anglidor on day 21. Be sure to log in throughout the month to avail of these time-limited rewards! Update 22/04/04: In compensation for the above-mentioned server issues, the weekly Endeavors for this week award 1,200 Seals of Endeavor upon completion. This is a tripling of the usual amount, and much higher than the usual weekly reward of around 200 Seals. Update 22/04/07: The Morrowind DLC is now free for all ESO players. Note that this does not include the Warden class, which remains a separate purchase. The Anniversary Jubilee event is also now live and runs until April 19. ASCENDING TIDE AND UPDATE 33 GO LIVE FOR ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE — MARCH 14, 2022 Elder Scrolls Online has released its latest DLC, Ascending Tide, for PC and Mac. Ascending Tide brings the two newest group dungeons, Coral Aerie and Shipwright's Regret, to the game. The Coral Aerie dungeon takes you to an isolated islet in the Summerset Isles, where a mysterious operation of the enigmatic Ascendant Order is underway. Shipwright's Regret will have you explore an old All-Flags Navy shipyard infested with the undead. While questing through these locations you will encounter some old friends along the way, with Caska and Za'ji hunting for upgrades for their ship, and Captain Kaleen and Jakarn (captured once more) tangling with the Order. The release of Ascending Tide also marks the beginning of the Legacy of the Bretons story arc and the release of Update 33. Beyond the changes tied to the DLC and various bug fixes, one major change was to the achievement system. Instead of being tied to a single character, achievements will now be unlocked account-wide. This will also allow you to use unlocked titles and purchase achievement-tied items on any character. You can see the official announcement here. You can also view our own articles on Ascending Tide and Update 33. EXPLORER'S CELEBRATION CELEBRATION EVENT STARTS — MARCH 17, 2022 An Explorer's Celebration event is being held in Elder Scrolls Online right now. From now until 10AM EDT on March 22nd, you will be able to enjoy boosts active in every area of the game, without any tied in quest or tickets to collect. These boosts include: * Double experience gain from every source. This stacks with any other active experience boosts. * Larger drops from harvest nodes. * Double gold drops from monsters, quest rewards, and other sources similar to those two. You can see the official announcement here. You can also view our own article on the Explorer's Celebration. BETHESDA TO SUNSET THEIR LAUNCHER — FEBRUARY 22, 2022 Bethesda has announced that they are preparing to drop support for their Bethesda.net game launcher. Beginning in early April, you will be given the option to migrate your game collection, friends list, and wallet from the Bethesda.net Launcher to Steam, with Bethesda promising none of these will be lost in the process. Any virtual currencies you possess will be transferred automatically. However, while many games will manually migrate saves, some will need manual attention to be accessed again after the move. You will still be able to play your games through the Bethesda.net launcher until May, after which moving to Steam will be required. Additionally, your Bethesda.net account will still exist, and will still be used for accessing online features in certain games. The Elder Scrolls Online does not use the Bethesda.net launcher, and Bethesda has confirmed there will be no changes to the ESO launcher at this time. You can see the official announcement here. ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE HOLDS WHITESTRAKE’S MAYHEM EVENT — FEBRUARY 19, 2022 An in-game PvP event is currently being held for Elder Scrolls Online. The Whitestrake's Mayhem event, previously known as the Midyear Mayhem event will run from February 17th to March 1st at 10AM EST. The event was likely renamed because it was consistently also being held at the beginning of the year instead of just the Summer months when it was originally started. The event itself starts by completing the Midyear Mayhem quest, which grants participants a Scroll of Pelinal's Ferocity. The scroll doubles Alliance Points gained for two hours when it used. Additionally, you will be given Pelinal's Midyear Boon Boxes for completing Alliance War, Cyrodiil Settlement and Battlegrounds quests while the scroll is active. A list of possible rewards can be seen here. The official announcement can be seen here, and our own page on the event can be viewed here. ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE ANNOUNCES LEGACY OF THE BRETONS STORY ARC — JANUARY 27, 2022 The initial details of the sixth Elder Scrolls Online story arc have been revealed. Following up on the Gates of Oblivion, the latest story arc has promised a more down to earth scale. The Legacy of the Bretons story arc will cover secret peace talks to end the Alliance War in The Systres. At the same time, a mysterious faction of rogue knights known as the Ascendant Order threaten the peace and stability, while working towards a mysterious goal. Leading this conspiracy is the enigmatic "Ascendant Lord" and "Ascendant Magus", and unraveling their machinations will be the central focus of this year's upcoming chapter, High Isle. Like previous years, the Legacy of the Bretons story arc will have four primary releases, with one in each quarter of the year: * Ascending Tide DLC (March 14 for Mac/PC and Stadia, March 29 for Xbox and PlayStation) * High Isle Chapter (June 6 for PC/Mac and Stadia, June 21 for Xbox and PlayStation) * Unannounced Q3 DLC dungeon pack (date TBA) * Unannounced Q4 DLC story zone (date TBA) Ascending Tide will add two new dungeons to the game, the Coral Aerie in Summerset and Shipwright's Regret in Rivenspire. Fan-favorite allies will also return with Ascending Tide, with Jakarn and Captain Kaleen returning in the Coral Aerie and Caska and Za'ji in Shipwright's Regret. The Coral Aerie will cover an attempt to rescue Jakarn, and will be the official first encounter against the Ascendant Order. Over at Shipwright's Regret you will help Za'ji upgrade The Perfect Pounce at an abandoned shipyard for the All-Flags Navy where the undead have risen. The first dungeon pack will be followed by the High Isle chapter, which will take you to the eponymous High Isle, as well as Amenos. The chapter will bring a heavy focus on political intrigue as you delve into the Breton underworld. Beyond the main storyline, High Isle will feature numerous new features and additions: * New Companions, Ember and Isobel. * A new deck-building collectible card game, Tales of Tribute. * A new Trial, Dreadsail Reef. * New Fissure World Event. * More locations to explore. Among a host of minor changes, the ESO team stated that High Isle will include Spanish text translations as part of its Update 34, with a promise to support the language in upcoming updates. The announcement also covered preorder bonuses for High Isle, and discussed the different versions of different versions that will be released. This information was also released separately so it could be read at your leisure. The "Collection" versions include the base game and previous chapters, while the "Upgrade" versions simply unlock High Isle for existing players. The preorder bonuses included: * Palefrost Elk mount. * Palefrost Elk Fawn pet, limited to preorders before April 4th. * Abecean Privateer's Apparel costume. * Knights of the Flame Pup pet. * A Dark Chivalry Crate. * Three High Isle Treasure Maps. * Two Experience Scrolls, granting double experience. The collector's editions bonuses are: * Amenos Ornaug mount * Balfiera Senche Cub pet * Ascendant Knight Outfit Style * Hoard of the Schemers memento * High Isle emote pack You can see the official announcement here. LETTERS MAILED TEASING UPCOMING ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE CONTENT — JANUARY 16, 2022 Letters have been sent to some prominent members of the Elder Scrolls Online community with hints at the upcoming adventures for 2022. The letter begins with a foreword that reads: Adventurer, we seized this letter and medallion as its courier journeyed through Glenumbra. Investigate this organization, uncover their goals, and report back to me. You can name your price. Lady Arabelle Davaux After which, it continues on with the previously mentioned seized letter. Magus, Our knights obtained this medallion during a raid on a secret Mages Guild workshop. Study it. Protect it. Its purpose will play a vital role in the Ascendant Order's plans. Find the mage who created it and send our knights to secure the master template. Remember, we cannot ascend until we meet our overarching goals. The secret of these medallions is the key to our success and the salvation of Tamriel. Do not fail me. Your Lord The letter then ends with a sigil of a fist seizing a broken crown, in lieu of the name of the lord in question. The letter also arrived with a small bag, and a coin. The bag had the Alliance War Ouroboros on one of its sides, but had no significant details beyond that. One side of the coin featured a sailing ship, while the other side of the coin seemingly features a symbol of Stendarr with the colors of the Alliance War factions in front of the Alessian Empire emblem. As more information becomes available, we will keep you informed.
