ABOUT SAFECOMNET

SafeComNet is Furuno's comprehensive communication service that provides a
broadband communication environment between ship and shore using marine
satellite communication equipment such as VSAT (ESV) and Inmarsat. In addition
to Furuno's existing equipment, SafeComNet offers a full range of services
including satellite communication service and worldwide field service.




ABOUT THE SATELLITE COMMUNICATION SERVICE AND THE ANTENNAS

Furuno offers a wide range of satellite communication services. Regardless of
the service required or frequency of use, we can provide the most suitable and
efficient satellite services at the most competitive price.


WORLDWIDE (EXCLUDING POLAR REGIONS), LOW SPEED COMMUNICATION

FLEETBROADBAND

 * Use: voice call, email, VSAT backup
 * Communication area: worldwide (excluding polar regions)
 * Effects of inclement weather are minimized


NAVIGATION AREA ONLY, HIGH SPEED COMMUNICATION

GLOBAL EXPRESS

 * Use: Internet, large capacity communication
 * Communication area: Navigation area only
 * May be affected by inclement weather (rain)
 * Dedicated rack with excellent durability
 * Yearly maintenance required

* Combined with FleetBroadband, Global Express may be used only as Fleet Express
service

VSAT

 * Use: Internet, large capacity communication
 * Communication area: Navigation area only
 * May be affected by inclement weather (rain)
 * Suitable for installation in a small space

SATELLITE COMMUNICATION LINE SERVICE, SUPPORTED ANTENNAS


FLEETBROADBAND

With the 4th generation Inmarsat satellites, simultaneous ship-to-ship and
ship-to-shore voice calls and data transmissions at up to 432 kbps are available
worldwide. ISDN fax and data services are also available.
The service is also used as a back-up for VSAT communications, which are limited
in area and vulnerable to weather conditions.
Data transmission fees are charged on a pay-as-you-go basis.

VSAT

VSAT offers High speed data transmissions that allow you to send and receive
emails with attached files and retrieve information from the internet smoothly.
It is often used in tandem with the FleetBroadband service as a back-up due to
the limited area of coverage and the susceptibility to weather conditions. Data
transmission fees are fixed rates.

FLEET XPRESS

Fleet Xpress is a combined service of Global Xpress and FleetBroadband with
high-speed data transmission. This allows you to send and receive e-mails with
attachments, and to retrieve information from the Internet, even when Global
Xpress is not available due to coverage area limitations or inclement weather.
When Global Xpress is not available, the service will automatically switch to
FleetBroadband.
Data transmission fees are fixed rates.
