ABOUT THIS EVENT * 8 hours * Mobile eTicket Beyond Therapy is about re-imagining society’s response to child sexual abuse through research, creativity, and connection. We set up the Beyond Therapy Festival of Activism, which combines research, arts, and activism, to challenge attitudes toward child sexual abuse and re-imagine our society’s existing response. We invite survivors, researchers, practitioners, creatives and allies to join us on Tuesday 6th February to participate in a series of talks, workshops, art installations and taster sessions, and to join our community of strong and emerging voices. We believe we can use our collective power to initiate change. The festival will be held at Watershed, Bristol for up to 300 people, and the day will be interspersed with performance and artwork. We will also have wellbeing services and therapists available to support with emotional needs on the day for attendees and contributors. We are planning this day to be a positive, creative, and joyful space, focused on the needs of young people and families – the Festival of Activism is an inclusive community-based response to child sexual abuse. Together with our Festival Partner, The Flying Child, this year we consider what children and families who have experienced sexual abuse need from supportive education spaces. 2024 Theme: Education Each year the festival highlights a key area chosen by young people and families. We know that disclosures of abuse are increasingly made in school and wider education settings. Yet, young people and families tell us that the response received in these spaces needs to change. This year, our festival draws together the latest research, innovations in best practice and survivors' voices so that we can consider together – how we can create supportive spaces for those in education who have experienced sexual abuse. Key Event Information We will be operating a wristband system to ensure only festival staff, volunteers, attendees and contributors have access to the festival only spaces. This event will address sensitive and difficult subjects and include explicit language. Please use your discretion if attending with people under the age of 18. This event will be relaxed with gentler volumes and house lights on. We invite you to make yourself comfortable and move around if you would like. If you need to leave a room at any point, you will be able to return to the space when you feel ready. We will have listening support available throughout the day, based in our wellbeing space. Here you can find support, quiet, and grounding activities. Registration will open at 09:00 and the first session of the day starts at 10:00 Ticket Information The ticket price is set at £6.00 per person, however we want to make sure that this event is as accessible as possible. If you have difficulty covering the ticket price, please get in touch via info@the-green-house.org.uk We have a limited provision of free tickets available for those who would find the cost a barrier in attending.
