We recommend the most horsepower your budget will allow. One of the most important things to consider is the graphics card. A good card with 4-8 GB of ram will run Fire Studio well, without taxing the system. The two major brands are Nvidia™ and AMD™. Secondly, system RAM will help as well. We recommend 4-8+ GB ram. A strong processor is also important. If you have a strong system, you will be able to push Fire Studio much harder with more smoke and fire elements on the screen without taking a performance hit. DirectX Fire Studio 6.5 and 7 use the newest version of DirectX which is DirectX 12. You will need to find a graphics card that is capable of running DirectX 12. There are many integrated graphics chips out there. Some of the common chips are the Intel HD and UHD line. If you look in your system hardware, it will show a name like Intel HD 620 or Intel UHD 630. While some of these chips will run Fire Studio 7 on some systems, they are not recommended. As you start to push Fire Studio by adding more fire and smoke layers to your simulation, the system begins to slow, or may crash Fire Studio. Each computer running Fire Studio will need a license. You can purchase any number of licenses. As your needs change, you may add additional licenses. The first time you run Fire Studio, you will need to activate the software online. This will only need to be done once. Licenses are managed through your Customer Portal. This is not "subscription-based" licensing. If you ever lose your training budget, we don't want you to lose your simulation capabilities when the subscription ends!
