MUSK’S XAI UNVEILS GROK AI TO CHALLENGE CHATGPT

CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES — Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup xAI has
introduced Grok, an AI chatbot designed to compete with leading models like
ChatGPT and Google’s Bard.

The conversational AI, currently in early beta testing, has already shown witty
responses and a willingness to engage with controversial questions, as
demonstrated in a social media post where Grok humorously handled a provocative
query.

Although access is initially limited to a small group of testers, Grok has
exhibited promising capabilities by reportedly outperforming some other models
on math and coding tests, despite having less training data than leading models
like GPT-4.

“In some important respects, it is the best that currently exists,” Musk said in
an X post leading up to the Grok announcement.

Musk teased that Grok will eventually be offered through an X Premium+
subscription service for $16 per month. The AI is designed to appeal to diverse
perspectives, challenging the trend of politically correct models.

However, xAI has cautioned that Grok may still produce inaccurate information, a
common issue for Large Language Models.

Nevertheless, with talents from DeepMind and OpenAI that recently unveiled GPT-4
Turbo, xAI is positioning itself as an AI leader ready to test its philosophy
publicly.
