I would take courses from this facilitator again. * Past Participant, Drake Hotel Properties Nov 29, 2019 This course helped me open up and gave me new tools that I can apply to my workplace. Absolutely amazing! Christina made this particular course incredible. Because of her I was able to embrace the course and the other participants. She made us all feel welcomed and relaxed. Very impressive indeed. The one thing I would say is: the CMC courses work if you go into them with an open mind and reserve judgment until the course is over. All the information received throughout the course makes sense at the end, but you have to allow it to come together. * Past Participant, CIBC Jan 10, 2020 Thank you very much Karen. She accommodated to the best of her ability in helping us with all our individual struggles and provided us with actual tools/approaches to use and reminders and food for thought as we work towards becoming more diplomatic and tactful. I found it also liberating that she gave us permission to acknowledge our feelings like be upset, sad, frustrated and articulate them in difficult conversations. I'll always remember - It depends. Know your audience. It widened my perspective that applies both to work and life in general. I liked that all the participants were very open about their experiences and struggles and helpful in sharing possible approaches to situations brought up. It was engaging and it opened up opportunities for self-reflection and gave me the encouragement to consider what matters to me and decide from there. The exercises were very valuable. I intend to use them as I evaluate the relationships I have in the workplace, and how to nurture and make them stronger. I greatly appreciate how she shared a lot of her experiences and encouraged us too to share ours. It will help you be a better person - i.e. understand yourself and others. And i think as you get better at being diplomatic, tactful and credible, you'll experience a happier and more rewarding life. * S Rowe, Canada Post Corporation Jan 14, 2020 Solid basics on how to deal with a variety of people. Wonderful trainer. Easy to understand and always made me comfortable. * Kendra Roesch, CIRNAC/ISC Jun 14, 2019 One comment I would like to make is regarding this training was a participant present, was extremely rude and making a lot of us in the course feel uncomfortable as he was continuously arguing, being rude and name calling our instructor. At times I actually wanted to leave the course as he was causing quite a conflict. I am not sure if there are procedures in place to deal with that sort of thing but I think they should implement something for any future incidents.I think she was very good on the knowledge side of it all, however regarding that conflict I think she could have dealt with it a bit better. Overall I think she is a wonderful person and teacher. * Past Participant, CMC Canadian Management Centre May 21, 2019 Christina was excellent * Past Participant, Workplace Safety and Insurance Board May 15, 2019 * Past Participant, Alectra Utilities May 15, 2019 * Tina Curry, Alectra Utilities Apr 15, 2019 The facilitator was fantastic and kept the course relevant and interactive very friendly, easy to talk to and relate to. Apr 14, 2019 * Marco Ruggiero, Brookfield Residential Apr 2, 2019 The course taught you different views and understandings for every specific situation or dialog. Excellent in describing issues and different situations, gets me involved with what we are discussing, make you feel deeply involved in what is being taught. * Chris Theobald, TMMC Mar 31, 2019 Always enjoy the open forum for discussion. Marilyn was well spoken and was a good source of knowledge. Had good examples to speak from and had the class looking through a different lense by the end of the second day. I will take a good portion of this thinking back with me.Had good energy and was able to steer discussions to new thoughts. By the end I believe most of us had opened our thoughts tosome of her suggestions. Well spoken and good presentation. The course content was effective. Was relevant and created good discussions in the class. The instructor did an excellent job, I quite enjoyed the course. * Past participant, Portlands Energy Centre Oct 25, 2018 Slide were limited but not a bad thing. Reg provided some great relevant stories/examples as well as great class participation. Overall great experience by the down to minute precision by "The Velvet Colonel"... Great course and facilities. * Past participant, Black & McDonald Oct 23, 2018 Hi, Reg was a great presenter/teacher. He kept the group engaged and shared relevant stories. I would suggest for future classes that an activity be created to practice seeing and dealing live with other styles. Such as a video showing a person talking to the audience as if they were the person they were talking to. Replicating a confrontational situation. The class could pause the video at key points and discuss the clues as to how to read the persons style and other aspects. This could give more of a hands on practice approach. All in all I enjoyed the course. Reg was a great facilitator and made the course go by smoothly. He paid attention to the group and made sure everyone was comfortable and ok with the speed. * Past participant, Veridian Connections Oct 21, 2018 The course was very good. Very engaging, credible and enthusiastic about the subject * Dana Prutschi, Markham stouffville hospital Feb 8, 2018 Reg was great! The timing was well done. I expected the materials in the course to be more of a manager level. He is very personable and knowledgable * Past participant, Takeda Canada Inc Aug 29, 2017 Perhaps more scenarios to work through with less time dedicated to each one, so can practice more varieties of scenarios. Also, more material around how to approach higher management level would be appreciated rather than most of materials focused on communicating with team members/ colleagues of same level Bill was a great instructor! More ideas / phrases to use in order to execute ideas developed in class. We learned why but not how. Bill was great facilitator! * Past participant, Institute for Clinical Evaluative Sciences Jul 26, 2018 * Past Participant, Masco Canada Oct 1, 2017 It was very good. Maybe a few more "real life" examples to walk through - things the group experiences daily with how to handle communication responses. * Past Participant, MD Financial Management Oct 1, 2017 Bill was a wonderful facilitator! * Past Participant, Honda Financial Services Sep 29, 2017 Would have liked to leave with more skills. More ideas / phrases to use in order to execute ideas developed in class. We learned why but not how. Bill was great facilitator! * Past Participant, Esri Canada Aug 9, 2017 * Past Participant, Paralucent Aug 7, 2017 We ran out of time right at the end, and had to rush through the last module (or two?) of content. There were a few times when participants spoke for a long time, sometimes on topic, sometimes not quite, and I think this contributed to the time shortage. Nevertheless, it was an excellent course, and I will be reviewing the materials going forward, especially the last bit of content that we didn't have enough time for. Thank you. Very friendly, professional, engaging and extremely enthusiastic.Overall an excellent course. I would come back to CMC for courses in the future. Also, excellent food and refreshments. * Past Participant, Health Shared Services Ontario (HSSO) (Formerly OACCAC) Aug 7, 2017 * Past Participant, Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) Aug 3, 2017 Bill was a great Facilitator! Engaging, upbeat & very approachable. Great delivery of course and especially like the no role playing!! Thanks Bill !Would recommend this course, some good take aways and working tools, thanks! * Past Participant, Arbor Memorial Services Inc. Jul 30, 2017 I do not feel that enough time was allotted for the course. The main purpose I was attending was at the end of the course and due to a lack of time it was rushed through at the end. Bill was fabulous made the course fun and enjoyable.Fabulous course but as stated earlier not enough time. * Past Participant, Boehringer Ingelheim Canada Ltd. Jul 30, 2017 Great course, would recommend to others. * Past Participant, Cancer Care Ontario (CCO) Jul 29, 2017 It was a bit rushed on Day 2 but then again we were a chatty group. Bill was one of the best course instructors (of any topic) that I have had the pleasure of spending time with. He was excellent. CMC was great - I would recommend that you suggest to your participants to bring a water bottle so that not so many plastic cups are wasted. Your receptionist/service is exceptionally pleasant. On a side note: I really appreciated Bill's flexibility and accommodation as I had a particularly hectic 2 days - I felt he understood that work happens and he didn't "mind" that I needed to step out for calls or check my email during his class. Other instructors have been very disapproving of this in the past; and it's not something I can avoid, so I appreciated not being made to feel bad about it. * Past Participant, Loblaws Inc May 23, 2017 The facilitator was not engaging at all. She reviewed the material page by page and didn't provide any additional insight, value or experience. Found her to be very monotone.I would recommend the course but not the facilitator * Past Participant, Precision Resource Canada May 23, 2017 * Past Participant, Veridian Connections May 22, 2017 * Past Participant, Esri Canada May 20, 2017 * Past Participant, Kinaxis Inc Dec 13, 2017 * Angie H, Kinaxis Dec 12, 2017 * Past Participant, Kinaxis Inc Dec 12, 2017 * Past Participant, Global Payments Canada Dec 11, 2017 * Past Participant, Seaway International Bridge Corporation Dec 10, 2017 * Past Participant, Kinaxis Inc Sep 17, 2017 The course was delivered by an excellent lead, and the pace of the course was just right. We learned a lot of interesting techniques and facts that should help me achieve what I need in my work environment (and outside of work). Thank you. Excellent course - would recommend to my colleagues. * Past Participant, Takeda Canada Inc Aug 29, 2017 Bill was a great instructor! He's very knowledgable, witty, shared lots of past experiences and stories, and is a very effective communicator. Perhaps more scenarios to work through with less time dedicated to each one, so can practice more varieties of scenarios. Also, more material around how to approach higher management level would be appreciated rather than most of materials focused on communicating with team members/ colleagues of same level * Past Participant, Denso Sales Canada, Inc Apr 30, 2017 I firmly believe that it was the instructor that made this course so beneficial. Many lecture based courses that I have taken in the past, I found that the instructor only projected the information to the student, in this case I found that I was apart of the lecture and more engaged overall. * Past Participant, Canada Post Corporation Apr 25, 2017 * Past Participant, Canada Post Corporation Apr 23, 2017 * Past Participant, Enerchem International Inc Jul 30, 2017 * Past Participant, Conexus Credit Union Jul 30, 2017 Thanks Deborah it was a great experience * Past Participant, CIBC Dec 5, 2016 The instructor Peter was very engaging and very good. * Past Participant, Warner Music Canada Dec 4, 2016 * Past Participant, Royal Building Products, a Westlake company Dec 4, 2016 * Past Participant, Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada Mar 14, 2017 Excellent theory material....more role playing might be a good course addition. thanks for providing refreshments and lunch. * Past Participant, Royal College Of Physicians And Surgeons Of Canada Mar 14, 2017 most of the instructions for in book exercises are hard to understand what is being asked. Facilitator was GREAT! amazing, had a great time * Past Participant, Canadian Agency for Drugs and Technologies in Health (CADTH) Mar 14, 2017 Would have liked to see concrete examples of options for how to answer, in multiple choice format to see the differences between an untactful response and a tactful response (or diplomatic). Michel is a wonderful model of how to communicate effectively and with tact and diplomacy. * Melanie A. Mar 14, 2017 * Past Participant, Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) Mar 13, 2017 * Past Participant, Siemens Canada Limited Dec 15, 2016 * Josie V. Dec 11, 2016 * Past Participant, Boehringer Ingelheim Canada Ltd. Dec 11, 2016 I appreciate that Peter took the time to make links to personal DISC profile patterns, Addressing strengths and linking to communication styles. Thank you for also ensuring that personal goals/expectations were met. * Past Participant, Guardian Chemical Inc. Nov 8, 2016 great experience * Past Participant, West Fraser Electro/Mechanical Ltd. Mar 14, 2017 Lisa was an excellent presenter * Past Participant, Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada Mar 12, 2017 The reference material can be a bit more clear with activities. ie example of answers to help support input * Past Participant, Canadian Pacific Mar 10, 2017 * Past Participant, Honda Canada Nov 23, 2016 Prior to the class each attendee should have two copies of the self assessment for them to provide to two coworkers of their choice that they value their opinion/perception of them. Then in class when the attendee completes their own they can compare to see where they see themselves compared to their valued opinion peer. This way they can focus in even more during the class on areas they wish to improve on. * Past Participant, Nartech Metal Products Nov 23, 2016 need more emphasis on dealing with under-performing personnel * Lynda C. Nov 22, 2016 I realy liked the Workbook titled 'Insight Inventory'. There are lots of great communication tools on dealing with differing work styles as to take back with me. For me, more time spent on this would have been beneficial. Please can you tell me how to order the Workbook? Laura is a most excellent presenter; she made everyone comfortable and moved effortlessly through the material. I learned some great techniques on presenting from her. A great course for those new to a management role; especially coming in from being part of a team to managing it. I believe most of the material is structured for this and would highly recommend it for anyone transitioning into a Management role. I'd like to offer a suggestion for a new course on managing virtual/distance teams. The challenges are different and as virtual teams are fairly new there is not a lot of tried and true material out there on it. On any management course I take I always check if anyone is managing a virtual team and we brainstorm as much as we can on shared issues and solutions that have worked. * Past Participant, CPP Investment Board Nov 21, 2016 It is a useful course for me to pick up 3 things that I can apply to my work and help me to communicate better with others. One thing that I think could help the audiences to related to the materials more is to provide more real work or life examples or experiences during the class. Overall, it is a good learning experience. Thank you for putting everything together. Laura did a good job to facilitate the class discussion. She is approachable and easy to talk to. * Past Participant, eHealth Ontario Mar 7, 2017 * Past Participant, Union of Ontario Indians Mar 5, 2017 Practical examples shared by the instructor and participants complimented the content well. Bill is a great instructor, very knowledgeable about the content and provided many examples and resources for further information. * Past Participant, RioCan REIT Mar 5, 2017 I would highly recommend any course taught by Bill. He is excellent at what he does. * Past Participant, Atlas Copco Oct 11, 2016 * Past Participant, Ombudsman for Banking Services and Investment / OBSI Oct 2, 2016 There were a number of useful elements to the course and the instructor was well-versed in the materials. I found that the content at times was somewhat basic. We did a role-play exercise of a difficult conversation at the end of the course that I found very useful. This course could be enhanced through more practical application to difficult discussions along with observations. * Mike Sep 29, 2016 I felt I had met the instructor previously...meaning I was comfortable and at ease within an hour of arriving...one talented instructor...insightful * Past Participant, The Regional Municipality of York (York Region) Sep 5, 2016 * Michael B. Jun 14, 2016 Excellent course professor Michel that brought a lot of personal insight and examples to the table. Very engaging and well done class. However, content was too long for the 2-day course. Did not complete the entire material on time. One of the best training Facilitators I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. Clear, concise, relevant examples provided. * Past Participant, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories/Atomic Energy of Canada - AECL Jun 14, 2016 * Past Participant, Hubbell Canada May 19, 2016 * Robert G. Sep 20, 2016 This was my first time attending a CMC course and I was extremely impressed. The professionalism, skill and knowledge of the facilitator was exceptional and the facility provided for the effective learning environment. The professionalism and courteousness of all the administration agents is also to be commended. I would definitely recommend CMC to anyone. Lucie has had to be the best facilitator of any other courses I have taken. * Past Participant, Ottawa Airport Authority Sep 18, 2016 Lucie is an excellent facilitator. * Past Participant, Canada Post Corporation Sep 18, 2016 Instructor made the course! * Past Participant, Canada Post Corporation Sep 18, 2016 * Past Participant, Canada Post Corporation Sep 17, 2016 * Past Participant, Wajax Industries Ltd., Sep 16, 2016 * Marcari Apr 17, 2016 It was very rewarding the instructor was keeping me engaged. Looking forward to another one We all liked her style Give the instructor a 10 * Tanya D. Apr 17, 2016 * Past Participant, Esri Canada Apr 17, 2016 The course was exceptional, I consider that it is more of a workshop than just a course and this is what I greatly appreciated about it. This was a very positive experience. I was fortunate as well because the other participants were positive, pleasant and engaging as well, it made the course also more interesting and beneficial. Ann was incredible. She was very skilled at answering questions and situations in the moment and giving them their due time while being mindful of the time we had to cover all areas. * Past Participant, Stoney Creek Community Homes Apr 17, 2016 * Past Participant, eHealth Ontario Mar 30, 2016 * Past Participant, CPP Investment Board Mar 29, 2016 * Past Participant, Stoney Creek Community Homes Mar 29, 2016 Ann was terrific and we had a very engaged group of Participants * Emil G. Mar 6, 2016 The on site experience of exchanging real world examples provided to be an invaluable learning tool. The fact that I was able to exchange views and share experiences with unbiased people gave that edge for this course that I value the most. Some video material used in this course was from the late 80's , could have used more recent ones, although the message was there. * Past Participant, R.W. Gibson Consulting Services Mar 6, 2016 The facilitator was very well prepared and engaging. Knowledgeable and kept the class interacting. The smaller class size was a pleasant surprise. * Brad P. Mar 5, 2016 The facilitator was amazing with the dynamics of the class, delivered the content of the course in an outstanding way. Thank you Tara * Past Participant, Clarion Medical Technologies Nov 16, 2015 * Past Participant, Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) Nov 13, 2015 * Sarah S. Nov 13, 2015 Reg is a very talented teacher! Sep 27, 2015 * Past Participant, Export Development Canada (EDC) Sep 27, 2015 I expected to work on a personal action plan to communicate with diplomacy, tack and credibility. This activity was left to do on our own. * Past Participant, CIBC Sep 20, 2015 Great course and would recommend it for all People Managers. She kept the class engaged at all times, make learning the materials fun and was able to bring real life experiences to the class. * Past Participant, Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) Sep 13, 2015 * Past Participant, CPP Investment Board Sep 13, 2015 The course was engaging - exercises useful and provided useful methods to communicate with confidence, diplomacy and tact. Salima used current examples and encouraged/assisted participants to think how to improve their current situations and achieve their objectives. Thereby making this an engaging and beneficial course * Adrienne W. Sep 13, 2015 A practical approach on diplomacy tactics. Very useful at work place. Facilitator (Salima) was an effective communicator and easy to understand. * Past Participant, CIBC Sep 13, 2015 * Past Participant, CIBC Sep 13, 2015 * Past Participant, Southwire Canada Co Sep 13, 2015 * Past Participant, CIBC Sep 12, 2015 I was very impressed with the facilitator's performance * Past Participant, CIBC Sep 10, 2015 Salima is an excellent instructor Salima is an excellent facilitator * Past Participant, CIBC - Toronto Jul 22, 2015 the activities and exercises really needed a foundation in the sense that we were asked to ask each other how to be diplomatic , tactful and credible. Well, nobody knows that which is essentially the reason to attend this course. What would have worked is before the worskhop to read material offline and then be actually taught how to do these things. Again people came to the course to learn because they knew nothing of the specific areas and yet you are asking those same people to evaluate each other. this would be so misguided and not an authority to discuss these subjects. the intent of the course was not served.its not about the facilatator but rather the material itself and the format used. disucssions among people who have no knowledge about the subject!! wow what sort of a course is this...discussions should occur after a knowledge base has been established otherwise there is no credibility in what the students are discussing. * Past Participant, Independent Electricity System Operator (IESO) Jul 22, 2015 Felt more like a group theorpy session but that was probably due to the students that were in the course and not the course or teacher * Past Participant, CIBC - Toronto Jul 22, 2015 The activities and exercises really needed a foundation in the sense that we were asked to ask each other how to be diplomatic, tactful and credible. I think it is mislabelled somewhat. As a general communications skills course, it is fine. * Past Participant, CIBC - Toronto Jul 21, 2015 * Godson O., Jul 21, 2015 Educating and an opportunity to play roll past events and potential scenarios. The days went by quickly because she made it easy to learn and understand. * Past Participant, Bank of Montreal Mar 24, 2015 The facilitator was great - engaging and fantastic at bring conversations back to course concepts. The second day felt a little "fluffy" in content and I feel it could have been condensed a bit. Personally I hate role playing so I'm happy that was kept to a minimum. * Radha S., Mar 24, 2015 * Brad C. Mar 24, 2015 Fantastic course and facilitator. Also, the food was excellent. I have already started to use the tools I've learned in the course. Thank you, Brad She was terrific and easy to understand. * Karen M. I would recommend her to others. * Past Participant, Dairy Farmers of Canada Mar 10, 2015 * Sandra D. Mar 10, 2015 Instructor was wonderful.
