DRY BERTHING IN CROATIA

DRY BERTHING IN CROATIA

Dry berths are part of a larger form of nautical tourism that fall under the
nautical tourism ports or more precisely under the term marina. Because, if we
want to simplify these terms, marinas in Croatia represent a business,
construction and spatial unit in the area of a maritime domain that acts as a
tourist facility as a part of prominent nautical tourism services and other
services which play an important part in tourist consumption. This is more
precisely confirmed by the selection of nautical tourism ports in the Republic
of Croatia, according to which these types of ports are classified into
anchorages, vessel depository, classic marinas and, of course, dry marinas and
dry berths.

Dry marinas have berths for vessels, and all larger marinas have dry berths for
ships, sailboats, yachts, boatS and other vessels, or for most vessels.
According to the current legal provisions in the Republic of Croatia, dry
marinas with dry berths must have an enclosed space for the disposal of vessels,
as well as a place on land for the storage of vessels, and a dry berth marked
with numbers or letters. They must also contain lighting fixtures for permanent
illumination of berths and a connection for the uninterrupted connection of the
vessel to 220V electricity for every 20 berths, and they must have a connection
of the vessel to water for every 50 berths. This is issued from a legal
perspective for users, or clients, of dry marinas and dry berths, the
perspective is much different from mere legislation. Therefore, it is clear that
the users of the services of such marinas that have dry berths, and ultimately
the providers of these services, want to have a quality accommodation of the
vessel in which it will be well protected and completely safe.

In addition, it is desirable that there is a reliable service of the vessel on a
dry berth, ie in the immediate vicinity. It is desirable that such a service in
its service offers the service for all types of engines, and quality
diagnostics. It is certainly an advantage that the distance of the dry berth
from the marina itself is not too great or that fast and reliable transport of
the vessel to the marina is enabled. Video surveillance is the part of the offer
that raises the quality of the dry berthing and increases the safety of the
located vessel, because the constant video surveillance and the availability of
cameras provide insight into the condition of each individual vessel at any
time.

Exactly these types of dry berths are offered in ACI marinas, and the leading
one is ACI Marina Cres, which has as many as seventy dry berths within the
marina. ACI marina Cres is followed by ACI Marina Supetarska Draga on Rab, ACI
marina Opatija in Ičići, and ACI marina Šimuni on the island of Pag with
approximately fifty dry berths, but also smaller marinas such as ACI marina
Korčula which has sixteen dry berths within the marina. ACI marina Opatija, in
addition to its 283 berths in the sea, also offers 35 dry berths. There are of
course all the other marinas in ACI Marinas. It's useful to remind our readers
that the total number of 22 ACI marinas make up the largest marina system in the
Mediterranean.
