Life insurance companies play a vital role in helping Texans plan, build, and
thrive. We are committed to ensuring that Texans continue to have access to
insurance and financial products that offer security in the face of a sometimes
unpredictable future.

With the support of state leaders and legislators in 2023, life insurers will be
working to:

Retain the smart, market-friendly policies that enable Texans to have access to
affordable financial protection products. Products that can help families keep
their homes in the event of a death, illness, or other misfortune, pay for
education after a parent is lost, and provide support for business owners in
times of unexpected tragedy.

Advance a private sector option to expand access to voluntary employer-based
paid family leave by approving the use of additional group-based products sold
to employers—increasing the reach of a market that already provides nearly 62
million Americans with family leave coverage.

Encourage the availability of supplemental benefit policies, such as vision,
dental, cancer, hospital, and accident coverage, that enable people to manage
expenses not covered by major medical insurance.

Maintain a healthy regulatory environment for annuities, the only financial
product in the marketplace that can provide guaranteed income for life, like a
pension.

Keep a broad range of opportunities available for life insurance companies to
invest in Texas and its people through job creation, investments in businesses
and agriculture, funding for infrastructure, education, and mortgages.

Life insurers are eager to work with lawmakers this year and every year to
advance public
policies that will expand access to financial security solutions for all Texans.

From every corner of our state, life insurers are there to meet
the moment for families, businesses, and our communities.
