HELLO, HELLO, 你好, 你好!

My name is Tait Lawton, also known as “泰特”.

My work is to help bridge the gap between China and the west, making
cross-border collaboration more fruitful for all.

This page shares my story, places you can follow me, and projects I’m working on
now.

A STORY

I was born and raised in Edmonton, Canada.

I started studying Chinese in High School. Then I went on to major in
International Business at University of Alberta.

I flew to China at age 20 to study in Nanjing University for a semester.

Soon after, I met a girl. That’s why I stayed in China longer, and went back to
live there after I graduated.

I started two businesses while in China - one very profitable and another that
only reached hobby status.

I lived in China for most of my 20s and early 30s, also making trips back to
Canada, and had two daughters.

When the ‘Old Big’ (elder child) was ready for school, we set our roots in
Canada.

Now I work from my home office in Edmonton, morning and evening, to coordinate
with my core team in Nanjing, as well as partners from around the world.

NANJING MARKETING GROUP

My main bread-and-butter is providing Chinese-language marketing services to
clients from around the world.

We’ve worked with some big names (Microsoft, Siemens, Papa John’s, etc), but
mostly we work with small-to-mid sized companies and schools.

With our help, they can start growing their business in China much more quickly,
and with a higher chance of success.

SHORT ENGLISH VIDEOS

My English videos help people from around the world understand what’s going on
in modern China:

 * What are the trends?
 * What are people talking about online?
 * What is it like being a consumer in China?

I have about 30K followers across platforms, which I’m quite happy with. My
style is moderate and down-to-earth, which I hope is a breath of fresh air in
the polarized social media environment.

How do these make money? They occasionally help people remember to contact me
later when they’re ready to enter the Chinese market.

中文短视频 (SHORT CHINESE VIDEOS)

I’ve created hundreds of short Chinese videos about language and culture.

One of the more popular series is me explaining how we might express challenging
Chinese sayings in English…to varying degrees of success.

As of September 30, 2024, I have 111,833 followers. The median video gets about
30,000 views.

I use these videos as a way of recruiting contractors and employees in China.
