I'm considering purchasing a G1800 or G1900 with four wheel steering.

Are there any problems that I should know about with these models, particularly
the four wheel steering?

Thanks,
Jay

Hi Jay I've had a G1800 for 5 years now. I bought used with 1100hrs on it. Its
been strong and dependable. My previous riding mower had power steering so I
wasn't sure I would like the steering on the G1800 but I actually prefer it. Its
responsive and the tight turning makes for very efficient mowing. My wife also
uses the mower alot and has never found the lack of power steering to be an
issue. There has been the odd time that I wished it was 4wd ( going uphill on
wet grass in the spring ) but overall I am very happy with it. Gerry

add weights to the rear and the steering will feel a lot lighter

I bought a 1997 G1900S 4WS about a month ago with about 300 hours on the clock.
All I can say to this point is what a machine. The 4WS makes getting around
trees easy. The steering is very responsive. I considered a zero turn, but
wanted the flexibility of the tractor. The tractor I got also has the rear PTO
with a tiller. I anticipate this being the last tractor I will need to buy.

I bought a G1800S (4WS) today for $2300.
The hour meter doesn't work, and died (the hour meter) at about 57 hours.

Otherwise, aside from some very light surface rust on the deck where the paint
is scratched, it is in great shape.

It does need a set of front PTO belts.

Any suggestions of a good place to buy these parts online?

I wish it had the rear PTO and three point like yours, but I'm buying it
primarily for cutting grass. I actually have a zero Simplicity now, but since
almost my property is on a slope, I'm always digging up turf when I try to turn
uphill.

Can the rear PTO and three point hitch be added?
Is the PTO the standard 540 RPM type that most tractors have?

I don't need the PTO now, but my wife will want me to sell my B7100 when were
done with the major landscaping we're doing around the house, so I may want to
add these items, plus a 2-stage snowblower to the G1800 later.

Can a small front end loaded be added to the G1800? This would mainly be for
avoiding shoveling mulch off of the mulch pile into the wheelbarrow, and pushing
the wheelbarrow to where the mulch is needed.

Thanks to everyone for the info,

I had my nephew fabricate a hitch for the back of my G1800. Works great to move
my motorcycle trailer around the yard.

Looks Good! And great pictures!, they take up the whole screen and a lot of
pixel!

I wonder how much tongue weight I can put on my G1900? I have a couple of 2
horse trailers it would be cool to move around with it.
