From Silos to Bridges: Unifying the Data Enterprise (Capitol Hill)
Frossie Economou, Sam Hultzman, David Miller, Ian Brooks, PhD, Thom Kenney
Initial data system modernization focused on improving key public processes like
legal, financial, public health, and other services. As the public’s needs
change over time, these siloed capabilities have become challenging to navigate
for questions that span capabilities. Rethinking data management systems often
requires an entirely new technical and bureaucratic approach. Join our panelists
discussion to hear how using Google Cloud is helping to make these transitions
possible, and how these changes have improved service delivery across a wide
range of internal and external stakeholders.

Advance Research and Discovery in Health and Environment Fields (Capitol Hill)
Manoj Gupta, Paula Mabee, Nick Weber, Keyvan Farahani
Scientific computing is undergoing a major shift due to the availability of
scalable data management, high performance computing, and advanced AI/ML based
inference tools. While these tools and technologies have the potential to
accelerate research productivity, we are still in the early stages of adoption.
Advances in data management, purpose built & infinitely scalable tools, & easier
data-first partnerships have unlocked new value to the research world. In this
session, explore the intellectual and social benefits of Google Cloud in
scientific domains spanning health to environment with National Institutes of
Health and the National Science Foundation's National Ecological Observatory
Network (NEON).

NOAA Fisheries Smart Analytics and Machine Learning Preserving Ocean Life
(Capitol Hill)
Alice Bottcher, Elton Edinborough, Abenaa Addei
NOAA Fisheries is responsible for the stewardship of the nation's ocean
resources and habitat. They provide vital services all backed by sound science
and an ecosystem-based approach to management, while leading in emerging and
innovative technologies. NOAA Fisheries has the goal of constructing a
modernized IT system approach that includes analytics, machine learning, cloud
technology, and artificial intelligence to inform enforcement staff to combat
Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated (IUU) fishing. Specifically, the Office of
Law Enforcement (OLE) wants to uncover new ways to identify IUU fish activity
and quickly translate that information into visual and intuitive actionable
tools.

Join this session to learn how OLE staff can use various data streams,
leveraging predictive analytic algorithms to automate and alert on specified
scenarios, allocate monitoring resources more effectively, and enhance case
documentation.

API-First Approach: Unleashing Innovation / Mission Transformation as-a-Service
(Dupont Circle)
Jason Beattie, Alexis Bonnell, Lauren Pavlick, Kristopher Rowe
Government agencies don’t have the time or resources to rip and replace legacy
systems, yet tapping into new innovations to access and analyze their data more
efficiently can be challenging in a legacy environment. That’s where APIs come
in. APIs are called "the connector of things". From the front lines to the
office, APIs connect disparate systems, giving everyone visibility into data
spread across an enterprise. This session will explore what APIs are, what they
do, and how to get started using them. Hear real-world examples of how agencies
are realizing cost savings and efficiencies, eliminating system silos, and
consolidating best of breed technologies to digitize using APIs to achieve real
mission impact.

Global Footprint, Global Threats: Zero Trust and Threat Detection (Capitol Hill)
Kristoffer Noerkjaer Randloev Jepsen, Miguel Rosario, Landon Van Dyke, Daniel
Prieto
Many of today’s government organizations are required to have a global
footprint.  And with that reach comes heightened risk. It is critical for
organizations like the United Nations, State Department, and USAID to innovate
their approach to cybersecurity in order to level the playing field against
malicious threat actors who continue to evolve their attack techniques.
Foremost among the innovations that global organizations are pursuing are Zero
Trust and a modernization of security operations.  In both areas, Google Cloud
can play a critical role to complement or augment existing security solutions or
to power a more comprehensive cybersecurity transformation.

Thriving and collaborating in the era of hybrid work (Capitol Hill)
Phil Sellers, Tracia Sherman, Kristoffer Noerkjaer Randloev Jepsen, Jeff Brown
In recent years, agencies across government have had to shift the way they work.
While some agencies have always had remote staff, most work was done in
collaborative offices. Now, things are different, and agencies are now embracing
the new reality.

Google Workspace empowers the mobile workforce by ensuring security and making
it easier to get work done whether it’s for remote needs, on the frontline, or
knowledge management. Join this session to hear government leaders share
insights and best practices on thriving in hybrid work environments.
