It was founded in 1975 in Koln as a family business by Dipl.-Ing. Dieter Friedrichs, with the conception of a new patented self-cleaning wire mesh, optimesh®. After only two years in business, the company, in need of a larger production site, moved to Wassenberg, where it also started to design and manufacture wedge wire supports and slotted filter tubes, also patented (optigap® and precislot®), mainly used in the chemical industry. Starting in the 1980s, FRIEDRICHS FILTERSYSTEME GMBH further expanded its range by introducing the first fluidtech® duplex filters, deltaP® differential pressure indicators and products dedicated to oil mist separation for turbochargers and expanders. In recent years it has also specialised in consulting and designing customised filter solutions for specific applications in the industrial, marine, energy and mining sectors. Since September 2022, FRIEDRICHS FILTERSYSTEME GMBH belongs to the Italian company UFI Filters Hydraulics, part of UFI Group.
