Made with pantry staples like instant ramen, eggs, butter, and garlic powder, it’s a satisfying entrée (or side dish) that’s sure to surprise you. WHAT MAKES THIS RECIPE SO GOOD * You’ve probably seen Kylie Jenner’s ramen noodle recipe on TikTok, YouTube, Instagram, or even just random entertainment news websites. Who knew something so simple could garner so much attention? Well, I’m pleased to report that it’s definitely worth all the hype. We added a little finishing touch, garnishing our ramen-butter-egg concoction with a little everything bagel seasoning, but that’s totally optional. It’s delicious with or without it! * Instant ramen noodle soup is so well-known as a budget-friendly food that it’s the go-to cliché dinner for college students or anyone on a super tight budget. Don’t worry, this recipe keeps the costs low, while still turning that basic package of noodles and seasoning into an unbelievably creamy, flavorful dish with a little extra protein. CHEF’S TIPS * If you feel like splurging a little, opt for a ramen noodle soup cup rather than a basic package of ramen and seasoning. The cups cost roughly $1 while the packages are usually under $0.50, but I like the dried carrots and onions that are usually included in the cups. They give this creamy ramen recipe a little extra color and flavor while still keeping the overall costs low – way lower than if you were to add in fresh veggies. * While we’re talking add-ins, you can absolutely go next-next level if you want. Cooked shrimp, chicken, beef, pork, or even tofu would all work really well on top of the creamy ramen, and that boost of protein really makes this dish a meal. Of course, once you start adding meat, you also add costs, so stick with whatever’s comfortable for you and your needs. You might even forego the meat and add a couple of soft-boiled eggs right before serving. * Want to mix up the flavors a little? If your budget allows, nix the seasoning packet, garlic powder, and everything bagel seasoning, and instead use ginger, garlic, crushed red pepper flakes or sriracha, soy sauce, sesame oil, and red wine vinegar. You’ll end up with a mind-blowing hybrid of Kylie Jenner’s ramen noodles and 40 Aprons’ 15-minute spicy ramen that’ll be in your permanent dinner rotation. Prep: 10 minutes minutes Cook: 10 minutes minutes Total: 20 minutes minutes Recipe Makes: –+ servings Enable Cook ModeCook mode prevents your screen from going dark while cooking. EQUIPMENT * medium mixing bowl * whisk * large saucepan (or large skillet with high sides) * wooden spoon (or silicone spatula) * serving bowls INGREDIENTS * ▢ 4 large eggs * ▢ 2 cups water * ▢ 4 3-ounce packages ramen noodle soup (any flavor, see Notes) * ▢ 4 ramen seasoning packets (from packages of ramen) * ▢ 4 tablespoons butter (see Notes) * ▢ 2 teaspoons garlic powder * ▢ 1 tablespoon everything bagel seasoning (optional) INSTRUCTIONS * Crack 4 large eggs directly into mixing bowl. Whisk thoroughly until eggs are fully combined and mixture is pale yellow and no longer streaky. Set bowl aside. * Add 2 cups water to large saucepan. Heat water over high heat until water begins to boil, then add 4 packages ramen. Do not add ramen seasoning packets yet. * Cook ramen noodles 1 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until ramen is approximately 50% cooked. * When ramen noodles are half cooked, carefully drain 50% of water from saucepan. Return saucepan to heat and slowly add beaten eggs. Reduce heat to medium and stir mixture constantly until eggs and noodles are fully cooked and slightly creamy. * Add ramen seasoning packets, butter, and garlic powder to cooked noodles. Stir continuously until butter is completely melted and seasonings are fully incorporated. * When butter is melted, carefully divide prepared ramen evenly into serving bowls. Top ramen with everything bagel seasoning if desired and serve immediately. NOTES * Ramen: You can use any flavor of dry ramen noodles that you prefer, or even use ramen noodle soup cups that include dried veggies. * Butter: We used salted butter, but you may find that to be too much salt, especially with the ramen seasoning packets. Unsalted butter will work just fine. * Servings: Officially, one 3-ounce package of dry ramen noodles yields 2 8-ounce servings of cooked ramen noodles. Because of that, we’ve divided this recipe into 8 servings. Depending on your preferred portion sizes, you may end up with 4 or 6 total servings instead of 8. * Make it Dairy Free: Use a dairy-free butter. Recipe costs provided are approximate. Actual cost per recipe & serving will vary by location, store, brand, etc. Approximate cost shown does not include costs for any optional ingredients.
