VIGILANTE: ACTION HERO VIGILANTE TO CRIMINALS

Vigilante is the latest action-thriller drama series starring Nam Joo-hyuk. The
series tells the story of a mysterious hero hunting down criminals to uphold
justice.

Vigilante is adapted from Kim Gyu-sam's webtoon of the same name. The series
premiered at the 28th Busan International Film Festival on October 5, 2023.

Here is the synopsis of Vigilante.
South Korea is enlivened by the action of someone like a hero for punishing
criminals in his own way. The mysterious figure was later given the nickname
Vigilante.

Vigilante can be interpreted as a person who likes to play his own law. However,
the vigilante action was supported by the community because it was like a hero
of justice who came from the darkness.

The action is carried out at night by punishing criminals for the heinous crimes
they commit.

However, the real figure behind Vigilante is Kim Ji-yong (Nam Joo-Hyuk), a
student at the police academy. Kim Ji-yong actually has deep wounds and grudges.

A traumatic event happened when Kim Ji-yong was a child. She witnessed her
mother being beaten to death on the street. However, the culprit only received a
sentence of three and a half years in prison.

After growing up, Kim Ji-yong accidentally saw her mother's murderer who had
been released. The killer seemed fine in living his life. This condition made
Kim Ji-yong take the law into his own hands by beating him brutally.

Since that incident Ji-yong began to live two very different lives. On weekdays,
he is a model student at the police academy.

While during the weekends, he punishes criminals who receive punishment
disproportionate to the crime committed. He also did the same for criminals who
continuously committed crimes.

All these things he did for the sake of justice and made criminals receive
proper punishment until they realized and regretted their actions.

The increasingly famous Ji-yong once received help from his admirer, Cho Kang-ok
(Lee Joon-hyuk).

Meanwhile, Ji-yong's actions have drawn the attention of various parties with
their own interests.

The investigation chief of the police intends to hunt down the mysterious man by
starting a Vigilante arrest operation. The chief of investigation is Jo Heon
(Yoo Ji-tae) who gets information through reporter Choi Mi-ryeo (Kim So-jin),
who covers Vigilante's activities.

Not only reporting on the action, reporter Choi Mi-ryeo tries to reveal the real
figure behind the real Vigilante to the public.

The Vigilante series is a series by Choi Jeong-yeol from a script written by Lee
Min-seop based on a webtoon of the same name. The drama also involves Moon
Yoo-seok in scriptwriting who was previously a judge.

Vigilante airs every Wednesday since November 8 on Disney+ Hotstar.
