THE HEADMASTER

Welcome to Old Swinford Hospital, or OSH for short.  Rated ‘Outstanding for
boarding’ by Ofsted and bringing together boarders and day students within its
community, OSH prides itself on offering a unique educational experience where
learning doesn’t end at the afternoon school bell.  We are a community of many
parts where we encourage each student to be themselves, and also to make their
own contribution to it.  Diversity of life is embraced, and learning to live –
not simply work – alongside one another is a life skill that cannot be
underestimated.

At 11am, on the 11th day of the 11th month the whole school came together to
remember and honour those who have given their life in service to their country.
As a special tribute to those from our own community, members of Pottery Club
and the entire of Prospect House have each made a poppy in the memory of a
former student with his name engraved. This river of poppies today stands
proudly in the centre of our Remembrance Service. We will remember

A proud day for OSH as the Combined Cadet Force officially join the Intelligence
Corps!@osh_ccf are now one of only nine schools in the UK to wear the
prestigious badge and beret of the @intelligencecorps. A new banner and beret
were ceremoniously presented to the contingent by Deputy Lieutenant Nick
Venning, Christopher Charles Lyttleton 12th Viscount Cobham and Officer
Commanding 63 Intelligence Corps, with Headmaster Paul Kilbride and members of
the School Governors, Feoffees and Old Foleyans watching on proudly. The cadets
then paraded their new banner around school with salute taken by the officers
and dignitaries before inspection and the annual Remembrance Service. We
couldn't be more proud of the cadets' efforts in marking this prestigious
occasion. Congratulations to everyone involved, including Contingent Commander

A PROUD DAY FOR THE COMBINED CADET FORCE AS THEY OFFICIALLY JOIN THE
INTELLIGENCE CORPS

On 7th November 2024 OSH CCF was delighted and proud to officially confirm its
affiliation with the Intelligence Corps by way of a formal Rebadging Parade.

Years 8 and 9 have this week experienced some thought-provoking Mantle of the
Expert workshops, based on the pedagogy of Dorothy Heathcote. Year 8 were
presented with real-life historical scenarios where they had to navigate
self-sufficiency in a small mountain village, bartering at market and the theft
of livestock! Where Year 9 worked through the character dynamics in Shakespear's
Macbeth. Thank you to Brian and Iona for a brilliant day which the students

OSH CELEBRATE STRONG GCSE RESULTS

Students at Old Swinford Hospital are today celebrating a particularly good set
of GCSE results, with 40% of all results at Grades 7-9.  They are now looking
forward to joining the Sixth Form at OSH or continuing their studies at other
post-16 institutions.
