The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) publicly denounced the wrong claim made by
shipping firm 2Go about the supposed shutdown of local ports during the Yuletide
holidays.

The port regulator called out the SM Investments subsidiary for posting about
“port closures” on Christmas and New Year.

“Mali po ang inilabas ng 2GO Travel, walang pantalan na magsasara lalo’t ngayong
pinaka-kailangan tayo ng mga taong uuwi sa kani-kanilang probinsya. Makakaasa po
ang ating mga kababayan sa serbisyo ng PPA ngayong peak season, tuloy-tuloy po
ang operasyon sa pantalan,” PPA general manager Jay Santiago said about the
shipping line owned by the bilyonaryo Sy-blings.

2Go claimed that the Manila and Batangas ports, which are among the busiest in
the country, will be shut down from December 24, 7 p.m. until December 25 at 7
p.m. and for a similar 24-hour period between December 31 and January 1.

PPA employees are on duty during holidays, Santiago said, to service passengers
heading home to their families and back.
