Midland Daily News Troopers for the Michigan State Police Tri-City Post investigate a fatal traffic crash. Around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 8, on US-10 near the I-75 overpass a six-vehicle traffic pileup took the life of a 39-year-old Saginaw man, MSP announced. The driver of a westbound 2003 Dodge Dakota lost control and struck the guard rail in the westbound lane of the overpass, MSP's initial investigation indicated. Following the crash, a westbound 2012 Dodge Ram struck the wrecked Dodge Dakota, causing a "chain reaction crash" with a 2005 Hummer and a 2000 Volvo, according to MSP. Two more westbound vehicles crashed while avoiding the first crashes. The driver of the Dodge Dakota, the Saginaw man, was ejected from the vehicle and did not survive his injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene, according to MSP. No other injuries were reported. Traffic flow on the freeway was restored as of 9:49 a.m. Wednesday. Authorities did not identify the deceased and said troopers are still actively investigating the matter. Troopers were assisted on the scene by MSP Third District Crash Reconstruction Team, MSP Third District Hometown Security Team, MedStar EMS, Monitor Township Fire Department and the Bay County Sheriff's Office.
