BENVENUTI ITALIA

Welcome to all the Italian producers and other wineries who have made the long
trek to British Columbia to attend the 45th Vancouver International Wine
Festival. We have several articles that will help you navigate the International
Tasting Room with scores of Italian wine reviews, and Italy is Having a Moment
from the GOW team. Allison Spurrell talks about Asiago DOP cheese with some
critical thoughts on authenticity. We have also collated our Italian videos for
easy access and a quick refresher, Italian Wine Prep, on the land of vineyards.
Finally, we are trying to melt the deep freeze paralyzing some in BC Wine
country. Look for new reviews daily and sign up for our monthly newsletter to
know what is coming next in wine. Ciao, and see you in the tasting room. AG

STORING CHEESE

When we have done group cheese tastings in the past, one of the questions that
comes up the most often is how to preserve and care for cheese. That is an

cheese by not protecting it. I always think of everyone who worked hard to make
the cheeses we enjoy. I think of the farmer who cared for and milked the
animals, the cheese maker who made and aged the cheese, and then all of the
people responsible for its care on the long journey the cheese took to get to us
here on the West Coast...

SPRING HAS SPRUNG

Spring has sprung, at least here on the south coast where the cherry blossoms
are in full bloom, and the honeybees are on the hunt. Our palates too are
seeking out spring flavours: lighter, fresher whites to enjoy with spring
produce and warm sunshine. Here are some recently tasted white wines that we
recommend searching out this season...
