BUILD A CIVILIZATION IN A SIMULATED ECOSYSTEM

ECO IS AN ONLINE GAME WHERE PLAYERS MUST COLLABORATE TO BUILD A CIVILIZATION IN
A WORLD WHERE EVERYTHING THEY DO AFFECTS THE ENVIRONMENT.

ALL RESOURCES COME FROM

a simulated ecosystem, with thousands of plants and animals simulating 24/7.
Work together through the player-run government and economy to build the
technology to stop a meteor on a collision course with the planet, without
polluting the world and killing it off in the process before that even happens.

Current Status: Beta is released and open for players.

“The game ECO gave a group of my students the opportunity to not just learn
about the impact of human activity on the environment, but to experience them
firsthand via a medium that is part of their everyday life. It is a way to
implement the topic not only in school but also private and social discussions
between students, parents, teachers and all other comitted members of society.”
Peter Irtmann - Teacher
“Number 1 game of 2018...Eco is a revelation...it made me realize that games are
actually crucial for understanding our relationship to all kinds of natural and
man-made systems. The thing that gives me chills is that I think it is only in
games that we can play with economic systems. And I walked away from my
experience in Eco feeling like I learned so much even though we had no
instructor. No one was connecting the dots for us. We simply learned through
play.”
Jeff Grubb - Venture Beat

THE ECO TREE

We intend Eco to be a forever-game, growing in depth and breadth and connections
to other future games, a system of unlimited possibilities that aims to go
beyond entertainment.

This tree contains the past, present, and future of Eco. Click the nodes in the
tree to see features that exist, are being worked on, and are yet to come. Click
the trunk of the tree to see our guiding philosophies in development and our
high-level directions for the game.

This tree will be updated frequently by developers as more gets added, and you
can join in the discussion by commenting on posts. It’s great to have you along
for the ride.
