COVID-19 UPDATE 

Our 2 Day Outdoor Emergency First Aid Courses are available to book for 2022 via
our website – we will keep monitoring any new guidance & update accordingly.

We have carefully selected venues that still enable our candidates to distance
safely, so here’s an update on the venues you can book:

Scotland – (1) Glencoe Outdoor Centre, Glencoe (2) Abernethy Trust, Nethybridge
(3) The Lesser Town Hall, Aberfeldy (4) Edmonstone Hall, Blanefield, Glasgow (5)
Scout Adventures, Hillend, Dunfermline.

England – (1) Bampton Memorial Hall, Bampton, near Penrith (2) Mercure Bowden
Hall Hotel, Gloucester (3) The Snow Centre, Hemel 

Private Courses: If you are interested in setting up a new course for a group,
please get in touch.

The following courses are currently under review –

5 Day EMT Course, EMT Revalidation Course, Advanced Course & Ski Patrol Course.

Due to ongoing uncertainties around the Coronavirus pandemic we regret that we
are unable to run BASP EMT or EMT Revalidation Courses at this time – see below
for more details.

We have limited availability for our Advanced First Aid Course (private courses
only). We feel that the new look ‘Advanced Course’ offers our candidates that
extra challenge for those with an already sound knowledge of basic first aid and
casualty management in an outdoor environment.

BASP EMT/Revalidation Update

The situation regarding the EMT Revalidation Course remains under regular
review.

You may be aware that BASP has three main EMT trainers, they are all healthcare
professionals.

Due to Covid 19, it has now been confirmed that our trainers are unable to
commit to delivering the EMT Revalidation Course this year. Their work
commitments continue to take priority & with the situation re covid in the
autumn unknown, we are unable to plan with certainty.

Unfortunately, certificate extensions are not possible due to insurance reasons.

In conjunction, our Medical Officer has requested a review of the course content
& delivery – Christine Hill, our chairperson is taking the lead in facilitating
this over the coming months.

It was decided at a recent BASP meeting, that realistically it will be at least
May 2022 before we are able to relaunch a revised EMT Course. (I have been asked
re the course length, price & venue – at this time I am unable to confirm this).

Whilst we recognise that this is not ideal, some candidates are booking onto our
2 Day Outdoor Emergency Course to enable them to complete a first aid
qualification.
